La Isla Williamsburg has incredible good food that is fresh and at decent prices. The spot has a counter and a couple of barstools, mainly for take out. The area is shady and parking is difficult, including paid parking. The vibe feels like the neighborhood when it was bustling with small local shops, Latin food and loud NYC street wonderfulness. The women are friendly, helpful and lovely, they remember the last visit and ask how the family is. They have platter deals and small take away items like alcapurrias. Usually get rice, beans, pernil, chicken, steak and onions cooked to order. There is no bathroom and no AC, so the summer feels like an over in there. The human element of hospitality is remarkable and personalized, and the ingredients you can taste the difference in.
