About Malvan

Malvan is a charming restaurant that offers a fantastic menu featuring popular Bombay seafood dishes. Although Bombil was unavailable during a recent visit, the restaurant sources its fish from Bombay, ensuring freshness. Diners can enjoy a variety of dishes, including Kolambiche Dangar, Jhanjhanit Zinghe, Surmai Masala Fry, Mumbai Butter Chicken, Saoji Mutton Masala Chops, Tambda Rassa, and Kombdi Vade with Jowar Bakri, Paratha, and Tandalachi Roti. The menu is well-priced, and many guests praised the Tambda Rassa as a standout dish.

The restaurant maintains a traditional Marathi theme, with friendly staff mostly hailing from Bombay, contributing to an authentic dining experience. Cocktails are skillfully mixed, and the imported 650 ml beers from Bombay add to the enjoyment. The ambiance is relaxing, often enhanced by outdoor seating.

While the food is generally well-received, some diners noted that certain dishes, like the Surmai Masala Fry, could use more spice. Service is commendable, with food typically arriving within 20 minutes. However, some guests experienced confusion regarding menu items, particularly desserts. Overall, Malvan promises a delicious and authentic Malvani experience, making it a place that many look forward to revisiting, especially to explore the brunch menu and the fish thali options.

This is by far the best Indian food I’ve tasted in fine dine category. Miles ahead of Bungalow
Fantastic menu which has some ultra popular Bombay seafood dishes. While the menu has Bombil, they didn't have any during our visit. We confirmed that they source the fish from Bombay of course, so it'll always be frozen and nowhere close to the OG taste!

Kolambiche Dangar ($15), Jhanjhanit Zinghe ($35), Surmai Masala Fry ($35), Mumbai Butter Chicken ($32), Saoji Mutton Masala Chops ($45), Tambda Rassa ($35), Kombdi Vade ($32) with Jowar Bakri, Paratha, and Tandalachi Roti...read full review
Good food. Served some stale dishes probably because I ordered off the main menu and not the brunch in the afternoon. Server also talked about Modaks as special item and I kept asking if its a menu item and they kept saying no we just have them for the festival without specifying its a chargeable dessert. Does't put that on original bill and later proceeds to add the item before card swipe. I understand this can be a confusion, but please make it clear to the customers.
