“When I walked in the restaurant the delicious aromas let me know I made a good choice. The food was absolutely amazing with vegan/vegetarian options and even a complimentary gluten free appetizer. The staff was welcoming and the service great. The prices were reasonable, but the best part was the delicious food!!“
“This restaurant was fantastic and we are so happy leaving there. They went out of their way for us, especially Monzu who went especially above and beyond to meet our needs. I had a weird request that they didn’t normally have on the menu and he made it with such pleasure and utmost hospitality. The food was fresh, delicious and plentiful. We will definitely be returning. Homey, cozy vibes and comfortable atmosphere. Quality food and amazing service- can’t ask for more. GO HERE!“
“It's not easy to find Goan food, so this was more than a pleasant surprise. Beautifully balanced flavors and seasonings. Highly recommend the coconut shrimp appetizer as well as the jackfruit biryani. Might be too spicy for some, especially children. Attentive staff, and nice atmosphere.“
“This is the best restaurant in Midwood in my opinion. The food is fantastic. Some unusual dishes that I have never had before as well as some old favorites that are made much better than anywhere else. Even the mango lassi is better than anywhere else. Don't miss the chaats and the butter chicken! The service is warm and incredible. And the owner is such a delight to talk to. I love this place! I'm so excited to hear that they are delivering during coronavirus epidemic.“
“Excellent food! Bring your own water/water bottle, or else they will give you plastic water bottles and then charge you $2.50 each without telling you, which is annoying, expensive and wasteful of plastic. Food is delicious and well-priced though and it's probably the best Indian food I've had in this neighborhood.“
“Curry and Handi has delicious, truly fresh, and flavorful food. I think it is the best Indian food I have had since visiting India 2 years ago. As a vegetarian I appreciate the offerings and highly recommend the broccoli tandori. The service is excellent as well.“
“We came here for on a weekday for lunch and got seated right away. Initially we wanted to order off the lunch special menu but be advised the lunch special menu is for take-out only! We ended up ordering the Tikka Masala, Mango Lassi, and Lamb Vindaloo. The food was very flavorful and delicious! Our server was great and friendly. Highly recommend!“
“The owners are amazing The inside is amazing you have to come there with your family very delicious beautiful food and I don't go out to a lot of restaurants but this is one of the best I've been to hospitality is awesome trust me.“
“Went there with my husband and was greeted by a nice man who buzzed us in. He welcomed us with a smile and warmth, which was nice on a cold day. We went downstairs, not knowing what to expect, but was greeted by another nice man who explained things nicely and made us feel welcome. Their smiles seemed very genuine. The space is open for being in a basement and a peaceful atmosphere for being in the heart of Brooklyn. Something unique and special about the food, that in the end really made us feel quite nice. When we were leaving the man in the front , I think his name was merari ( I remember because he said it rhymed with Ferrari) , after sharing him how we felt after eating, told us is that every meal is prepared with love "our secret ingredient". What a wonderful experience with really nice people. Thank you Govindas !Vegetarian options: Vegan and vegetarian made with love“
“I visited De Tandoori Knight on a Saturday 4/6/24. I was dining alone. The customer service was excellent. The restaurant was small but very clean and organized. The prices were excellent and the portions were great. I ordered Chicken Korma with Basmati rice, regular Naan bread and a Mango Lassi. The chicken was very tender, the sauce was creamy, delicious and not spicy. The Naan was good. I loved the Lassi. I had leftovers. I will definitely be returning. I am Puerto Rican and grew up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Growing up here there were no Indian restaurants. So happy to see more Indian restaurants now. I've been eating Indian food for about 20 years. To my Latinos try Indian food you might just love it. Not all dishes are Spicy. Visit this restaurant you may just love it like I did.“
“My fiance and I were visiting from Michigan and stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant for lunch. The owner was our server. He was the nicest person! Beyond that, the food was incredible. 10/10. I wish I could go here everyday for lunch and dinner. Amazing experience.“
“One of my favourite South-Asian restaurants in NYC. I’ve been coming here for years. The goat curry is always excellent, as are the momos, chicken thali and dal, and it’s so reasonably priced compared to other restaurants in this area. The staff were also very attentive and helpful. I highly recommend this place.“
“I had a couple slices of pepperoni pizza last month here with low expectations and was impressed. Best pizza in NYC? No but up there with the best $3 slices in NYC. The bagels are handmade here and lovely as well. But on to the star of the show: the Indian food is great. Chicken Chaat was really spicy in a nice way, a medley of great flavor with some heat. Samosas were fresh and crunchy on the outside. Lamb biryani was delightful, not too herbaceous but well balanced and nice meat chunks.I'll be back soon to try the Indian fusion pizza! Can't wait.Update: the Indian pizza is the best. Why is this not a thing yet? It will be soon. The crust could be better but the flavors on all their pizzas are phenomenal. The chefs here are creative and care about the quality they put out.I just tried their bagels again and maybe I got a fresh batch but they are so much better than I remember. Soft and chewy with perfect flavor. Not very dense but I think that's a plus. Omar's is one of my favorite places in Brooklyn. They deliver quickly and everything is great. We've ordered a dozen times from Omar's and have never been disappointed. My favorite dish is probably lamb korma. I hope they will offer a lamb korma pizza one day. I luv Omar's!“
“We visited on thanksgiving. Arin and rest of the staff were very attentive making periodic checks during meal to assure needs are being met. Lamb and salmon were well prepared as well as rice and entree. Atmosphere is calm, restroom is very clean. Price is reasonable. Without requesting the staff assisted with my mom's walker as we exited. Will return soon. MercedesWheelchair accessibility: Easy to access entry door and staff assisted with the holding door open.“
“I’m only reviewing it as a takeout/delivery restaurant, but this is some of if not the best Indian delivery I’ve ever had. The curries are rich and flavorful and the chicken is cut in large generous portions. The naan is always fresh hot and fluffy, the vegetable biryani is packed with gorgeous flavor, and the vegetable samosas are large and perfectly crispy. Now, I’m not expert on Indian food, but I’ve eaten a lot of Indian delivery around the USA and I’m having a hard time thinking of a more consistently great Indian restaurant for delivery.“
“If I could give this place higher than 5 stars I would. Hole in the wall with unbelievably good food. Cant go wrong here. The samosas were soooo good. Best mango lassi I've ever had too. And the service...amazing too!! Also very budget friendly! Will be back for sure“
“10/10 would recommend to a friend! Came here after reading other reviews and glad I listened to what others have said. Great food, friendly staff, and very cool atmosphere! Had the Chicken Biryani, Garlic Naan, and Chai Martini - all were amazing.“
“Fortune to find this beautiful restaurant while touring Jefferson Street. We loved the food and hospitality. We had outstanding biryani (trust me you will not get the same taste in USA), chicken Tikka masala, naan and delicious kheer. Everything was worth it. Wish I can come soon. Last but not the least thanks to the pretty girl who accommodate our urgency.“
“Indulging in a feast fit for royalty, I discovered an Indian restaurant that delivered beyond imagination. The butter chicken and garlic naan were the stars of the show, tantalizing my taste buds with their impeccable flavors. What's more, the generous portions and affordable prices make it a dining destination that's hard to beat.“
“What now ranks among the greatest plates of fried fish in the city, the biyebarir fish fry, is modeled after the fish that appears in great quantities at wedding dinners in Kolkata. At Masalawala, barramundi fillets rubbed with a green pulp of cilantro and fresh chiles are suspended inside a puffy, golden husk of batter. This comes with a small dish of kasundi, a condiment that starts with freshly ground mustard. American yellow mustard has the same relationship to kasundi that a butter knife has to a chain saw.“
“Great Eats if you're ever in the neighborhood I'll meet you there. The owner and staff are very informative in explaining the menu and the flavors/and ingredients of the foods The Establishment is very clean and decor is small but family welcoming cozy. The prices are very reasonable and The food is fresh and spot-on delicious...“
“I tried this place about 2 years ago and found the food at that time below average - oily sauces, dry overcooked meat, old vegetables. However I recently learned that the place has been under new management so gave it another shot. It is a completely different standard. The food is flavorful and well balanced, the herbs are fresh and meats are cooked perfectly moist. Price is fair for the quality. I'm glad to have this as a new and improved neighborhood spot.“
“I had a wonderful experience at this Indian restaurant. The food was delicious, authentic, and well-spiced. I ordered Chicken Liver, Lamb Vindaloo, Chana Saag, Garlic Naan and Mango Lassi. Everything was cooked to perfection and served hot. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. The service was also superb. The staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. They made sure I was satisfied with my order and offered me complimentary papadums. The ambiance was cozy and inviting. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Indian cuisine. It was one of the best meals I've ever had.“
“amazing food, staff, and prices. this was our go to Indian food place when we were living in Williamsburg, and it's one the places we were saddest to leave during the pandemic. my mom, who cooks amazing Indian food, also raved about this place.“
“This place is amazing! We popped in here just because we were hungry, but had no idea how good it would be. I had the Vegetable Jaifrazie and my husband had the Chicken Tikka Masala. Both were wonderful, and the hot tea was just what we needed on a cold day.“
“Me and my partner visited today and were so SO happy with the food we ate here. It was tasty, fresh and warm and extremely delicious! The lady serving us (We unfortunately didn’t get her name) was one of the most lovely and pleasant women I have ever spoken to, she made excellent recommendations to us and was just brilliant! Will 100% return for more delicious food!“

“Yeah yeah yeah I know I know there are a few reviews on here from the haters that have you doubting this place. If you listen to them, you'll be playing yourself.iI you're really paranoid, here's what I got. Should you take a date to this place and order these things, may allah make them your spouse and that night your pants removed for a joyous nude dance.Peshwari naan. Bhindi Masala. Baingan Bhuna. Lamb Vindaloo. House special chicken curry. If I had to do it again, I'd probably also get Hyderabadi Bagare Baingan and the Luckhnowi Malai Murgh. The menu isn't that big. I bet those chef specials are absolute bangers. Not to mention, the baingan bhuna was incredible, so I'm down to see what other wildness this place is up to when it comes to my favorite nightshade: the Eggplant.“
“Been looking for a new Indian restaurant in the area and decided to try this place out. It was empty on a Tuesday, so we were seated right away.Very extensive menu of multiple tandoori and curry dishes. We had Lamb tandoori, Chicken Tandoori, a different chicken tandoori dish I forgot the name of, and chicken tikka.Everything was really good. Tandoori dishes were served on a sizzling platter which was fun. I truly enjoyed everything. Everyone in our party had left their plate spotless, so that speaks volumes to the quality of the food.Additionally, our server was very nice. He recommended us his favorite dishes and was attentive and kind the entire time. They even gave a complimentary rice pudding which tasted almondy and coconutty to me, it was a great dessert.Overall, I would give this place 5 stars for service and food. Definitely will be coming back many times in the future.“
“We order takeout from here once a week and the food is super tasty, fresh, and very high quality. The chicken Saag is our favorite but also great tandooris -including some surprisingly yummy tandoori wings- and also lots of curries and naan. Seriously though: the chicken saag is outstanding The menu is huge and I appreciate that they have mango pickle on hand if you ask. The delivery guys are always nice and will call you to update you on their whereabouts. I've tried most of the Indian places in the neighborhood (Flatbush/kensington/slope) and these guys are by far my favorite. Solid!“
“good people and noble ventures. You don’t need a silver fork to eat tasty good food.... the best Punjab food I ever taste in my young life..is so good and tasty yum yummy in my tummy..“
“Masala Grill was a wonderful place for a lovely dinner! I really enjoyed the atmosphere, and most importantly, the food! The service was extremely quick—I received my food within ten minutes of ordering. Furthermore, the staff were extremely friendly and kind, making sure our experience was of the best. The food was of high quality and was extremely delicious. The price was also just right for the proportions served! I highly recommend this place and will be returning at a future date.“
“The food here is fantastic! I’ve done a mix of dine-in and ordering and every time I’m impressed with the flavor and portions. I’ve never been let down, not once!My go-to order is the butter chicken with garlic naan and cheese naan. The portions are generous, the food is flavorful, and the naan is always baked perfectly. The butter chicken is the perfect spice level, it’s not overwhelming at all but a bit of heat is there. It’s enough food that you can get two meals out of an order and it all reheats perfectly in the microwave.Diwan Grill is definitely the best Indian food in crown heights.“
“I'm not an avid picture taker, but they brought me so much food for 29$!!! They even added in extra stuff that I wanted, but couldn't really afford. Very nice place. The food is pretty spicy, so definitely order at least 2 naan if you're ordering a dish. Definitely a recommend ???“
“Excellent taste, large portions with reasonable price. The owner was so much nice and the hospitality was great. we ordered numerous items and the taste was authentic. However it's not a chic restaurant, so if anyone prefers ambiance over taste, it's not for them. To me, it's a perfect replica of our "Desi Dhaba". Fully recommended to Indian/Pakistani taste buds“
“At the first moment you step in that place the stuff gives you a nice feeling. Very courteous stuff, it is a happy place to hang out with your friends or with your date. Great meals, experienced chief cook and stuff, reasonable pay and nice service. Highly recommended.“
“LOVE this place, the atmosphere is so warm and inviting, nothing flashy, instead there's wood everywhere, American antiques and Indian chachkas on the walls, kinda fun IMHO. The food is among the best Indian I've had. I've tried the lamb korma, with its thick, sweet n savory cashew nut gravy and fork-tender chunks of lamb. The tandoori salmon sizzling platter with spinach is out of this world. Tender juicy salmon kebabs, marinated and cooked on skewers, served over onions on a hot cast iron platter (the onions are still being seared when the platter arrives), with a generous side of spinach. I tasted the chicken chettinad that a friend ordered. He loved it. I found the sauce to be similar to korma but without the sweetness from the chopped fruit that's usually in korma. The tamarind flavor was noticeable. The veggie samosas were very very good, nice lightly crispy crust, nicely spiced. They'll start you off with a complimentary papadam while you make your choices. Prices are very reasonable, and from 12-4 they offer 25% off their reg prices as their lunch special.“
“I’m being serious when I say I can’t imagine living without this place. My partner and I order from here at LEAST once a week, sometimes more. Every time we have to move apartments, we make it a priority to stay in the Kanan delivery zone. So far it’s stayed with us through four different apartments. The takeout special is the best bargain in Brooklyn. I recommend chicken makhani, paneer tikka masala, saagwala paneer, chicken vindaloo, gobi manchurian, the samosas, and especially the side of aloo papri. The regular naan is good but definitely get the garlic naan if you can. The family that owns Kanan is so nice and thoughtful. Remember to call in your order instead of using Seamless—so much more money goes to the local business owner rather than a corporation! Kanan, please stay in my life forever!“
“It's a small but fancy little place, quiet with not very many people when I went. Very few drink options but the food, ugh so tasty. My friend and I got the Samosa, Aloo Papri, Malai kofta and Matter paneer. I personally wish they had been spicier but since they are all traditionally pretty mild dishes I didn't mind (especially since the friend I was with has very low spice tolerance, lol). There was only one FOH staff who definitely zoned out a good bit but I don't blame him, the atmosphere was very calming. He was very busy taking care of delivery drivers and I do wish it was a bit easier to get his attention but eh, not a big deal. Would definitely wanna go back sometime.“
“Out of this world creative Indian cuisine. The atmosphere is perfect setting for friend, couples, and families. With a diverse bar selection you can find amazing mixed drinks and local brewed beers on tap. From Fermented Dosa to Lamb Chapli Kebab the starters are brilliant. As you make your way to the main courses the Sea Bream Ssam is so tasty, if you’re in the mood go for the seared prawns or maybe even the Mushroom Uttapam. To finish off the night they have a nice selection of desserts like cashew baklava or the ganache cake is amazing with warm chocolate sauce, rose ice cream, and cardamom salt. To top off the experience the staff are warm welcoming and very kind! Come on by, right on 7th Avenue in the heart of Park Slope, Brooklyn NY!“
