“The quality of the bagels at the “new” Court Street Bagels are still excellent but everything else is not how it used to be. It is much nicer inside due to a major renovation that was done, but it is more like a factory now than a neighborhood bagel store. The workers are nice enough, but under the previous ownership, the workers knew everyone’s name and it was a significantly better, albeit very long, experience. Despite having 5x as many workers now, the wait times are better, but still curiously long for very simple orders. It is extremely crowded on weekend mornings which definitely contributes to the wait times so definitely be prepared to wait at least 10 to 20 minutes at those times. If this review was only based on the food, I’d give the new Court Street Bagels 5 stars, but given the full experience it’s closer to 4.5 stars. At the end of the day, despite the change in ownership, the bagels are still some of the best in the city.“

“We come here every time we’re in NY to eat breakfast. Then come back to get a couple dozen to take home. My fiancé is from Long Island born and raised but we always drive to Brooklyn because the food and service are that good! Cool neighborhood as well.“

“The line may look long, but it moves surprisingly fast. I had been to the West Village location before, but I actually enjoyed the Williamsburg location even more. Being able to grab a bagel and walk to the waterfront made the experience even better.
The smoked salmon bagel was absolutely delicious. The cream cheese, the salmon, and the bagel itself were all amazing. The fresh orange juice was also excellent and paired perfectly with the bagel. If you’re visiting with your partner or a friend, you can easily share one because they’re quite filling. Definitely worth the wait!“

Bialys are tender with flavorful onion filling. There is a pretzel bagel. A PRETZEL BAGEL. And chili crisp cream cheese! And wait, there's more: That king smoked salmon? Rich and tender, delicately smoked. Whitefish salad? Tuna salad? Far more fish than filler and perfectly delicious. Off the charts customer service, from email response to ordering to pick-up. “I had such a wonderful afternoon grabbing a bite at this spot on Vanderbilt Ave. There is something so relaxing about sitting outside and watching the neighborhood go by.

“Avenue U Bagels is an absolute gem of an old-school neighborhood bagel shop. The counter setup is straightforward and efficient, with a constant stream of locals coming in for their morning routine. “One of my biggest things I do is when I go out of town is I always look for something local. And right next-door where I was going to be was my favorite bagel. I figured I’ll go get a bagel and a drink. Well I walked in there, and there was all different types of pizza there there was a salad bar on the other side and then there was a bakery got a piece of pizza. I don’t know what kind it was but let me tell you something from where I am in New York this was nothing like it. The pizza was out of this world. I give it five stars or even 10 stars if I could really good food definitely will go back again.“

“Out of the 5 bagel shops in the area, Baker’s Dozen bagels are the best IMO…they are cooked to chewy perfection! Not doughy. They also have a great cold beverage selection. Plus, the guys are always friendly! I’m a fan!“

I've been coming here for about 13 years.. and although this isnt the most ultra modern bagel place... it is the coziest and friendliest 🥯 bagel place in bayridge. And watching the bagels boil as the steam rises, watching them get hosed down and then sprinkled with sesame seeds, poppy seeds and other toppings and then get sent into the oven to get baked is amazing. Visiting H&L would make for a great school trip!! Definitely a place to stop by!!!“

“I’ve been going to bad bagels for about a year now and I can confidently say it’s been extremely delicious and consistent. I always get a scallion cream cheese everything bagel. It’s perfectly toasted and always ready within a minute or two. I’ve also noticed that all the staff are so kind! They always make my day. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a bagel in Bushwick! <3“

“I have ordered from Joe at bagel villa for years. He's my go to for catering orders for work and personal events. All orders always arrive on time and the food is always very fresh. All the employees are always very courteous and do a terrific job. Food is always delicious and fresh. Place is always spotless and sanitary. Best bagel store in NYC.“

“I’ve been coming here on and off for probably close to 25 years. It’s definitely one of the best, if not the best breakfast spot in the neighborhood. The prices are high though and still going up. A bacon, egg and cheese bagel is $7. A raisin bagel with cinnamon cream cheese is $3.75; I think it was $2 just a few years ago.The bagels aren’t the big ones you see in some spots so it’s a quick snack. I can’t justify those prices since my favorite bodega is charging $5 for the bacon, egg and cheese.

The sandwiches are a better value cause you’re getting more than double the food for less than twice the price. I like the “Italian Sub” and “The Russian” for $12. I tried the “Tuna Delight” on a hero today for $10 and it’s more justified than the bagel prices. They charged .50 just to add onions which is kinda lame. Sandwich shops don’t do that unless it’s something like roasted red peppers.

Lastly, they surcharge 3.75% to pay by card. I work in credit card processing so I understand more than most how thin the margins are for a small business. I urge most of my clients to do the same to be more profitable (pass the fees to the customer), but when you’re also charging extra just to add onions it gets to a point where you gotta call out being cheap. Sorry.

It’s still a very good local spot to grab a bite. The place is packed even at 6:30 am. The pictures are the Italian Sub, bacon egg and cheese on a bagel, raisin bagel, and the Tuna Delight.“

“I bounce around 3 bagel shops in the neighborhood, and Sam's is the furthest from me, but 3 out of the 4 people in the family prefer it best. Bagel Boy is the 4th person's favorite, and we go there frequently as well.

Sam's has the softest bagels. Less chew, it's true, but kids and older people with bad teeth appreciate this part. Also, they make sure to put toppings on the top AND bottom of the bagel. It's the little things. Finally, they make their jalapeno cheddar cream cheese with pickled jalapenos. Most places use just raw jalapenos. Sam's doesn't use whipped cream cheese. I want all the creaminess, so this works for me.

Staff is always friendly and quick, restaurant is clean and organized. Tried their Reuben sandwich today and I might skip the bagel next time to order one of those again. They don't skimp on the mustard. So good.“

The store is a little small and you have a lot of people in there. “I don’t live anywhere near here but whenever I am around and I gave time to stop, I stop and have a bit here at SHM Bagel & Coffee Shop.

What I like most about it, is the food. I feel like my mom, dad or one of my Aunties made it and I feel like I’m with them chillin’ and eating. It brings back memories.

Besides that, the owner is kind and friendly and so are the workers. This place if clean and smells clean. It’s a spot where there’s no real fanfare but I like that because, once inside, you have some chairs, a few tables and a two stool window seat option. However, there is a long radiator there so, if you sit to the side, things will work out for you eating over there.

They have a nice assortment of cold beverages and food options. Again, the place is clean and I feel confident eating here.
