My cousin and I loved our experience, as this was our first time trying the food here. I'm not a take pictures of the food person, but the sweet plantain gnocchi and braised oxtails were amazing. I enjoyed the suya rib eye and espresso martini as well.
The vibe of the restaurant is super chill, we sat upstairs and the energy was great for a Friday night in Brooklyn.
Danielle and Jelani made our evening amazing with their service and we will definitely be back!

Tasted the chicken and waffles, steak and eggs, and prawn and grits. Everything was amazing!
Our server Malik was great! Definitely coming back.

As I'm sitting here now .I must write this review. Omg this food 🤤, omg the vibe , omg watching the chef cook.... Chef you so dope. Tracy our waitress is amazing and knowledgeable of the menu. I have never fell in love with a restaurant like right now. The pepper shrimp and salmon was caught in the ocean and cooked right after. The oxtails.... Listennn. I ordersisome to go home with. The lamb, the mussels , The sorrel. Bite after Bite is a party in my mouth. I wanted to gate keep but I can't . I can't believe lines are not done the block.... If y'all don't support this restaurant but make sure you save a seat for me.wait and I got to meet the chef that was the best part. So talented and humble. It's a win win

I visited Mango Bay a few months ago and I loved their Jerk Caesar Salad so I decided to order it last night to takeout. To my surprise I was so disappointed when I looked at what I received. There was no effort put in and the dressing on the side was barely enough to cover the long leaves of lettuce that still had the stem on it. I've attached two photos; one from a few months ago and the other from last night.

Everyone in both dining rooms were dressed to impress including the very good at their jobs servers. Perfect place to bring your family and friends or enjoy date night. Watch Chef Maguette and her team rise to fame in real time, cause it’s only up from here. Well done Chef, congratulations!!

Food wasn’t really the greatest. Chicken was soft fried (if you know what I mean) . The waffles were pretty decent (they also gave wings with chicken and waffles, I prefer chicken tenders). The host was cool but waiter wasn’t friendly at all. Overall we will not be coming back!

Beautiful ambiance once you enter the doors. I came in for brunch and everyone that came with me were amazed at all the wonderful flavors we were presented with. Those egg rolls will definitely have me coming back again! Good food, good service, and kind staff. Keep it up!!!!!

I was disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. When we first arrived, the host had an attitude toward us and did not seem very welcoming. As customers, we expect to feel comfortable and treated kindly, but that was not the case at the beginning. I believe she could work on being more friendly and professional with guests.
The food was okay overall, but the chicken needed to be cooked a little more. It would have been better if it was prepared more thoroughly.
However, I did notice that the host became more friendly when she brought out a drink for my mother’s birthday, which I appreciated. I just wish that same positive attitude had been shown from the start. Good customer service makes a big difference in the overall experience.

Brunch with former colleagues. The brownstone atmosphere was wonderful. The waffles delicious. Not fond of the chicken wings that came with it. A bit pricey but that is what gentrified will do! Didn’t really have drinks for $45 per person high price in my book.

I came to this restaurant with high expectations after seeing several positive posts on social media. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing.
The service was extremely slow, which set the tone for the evening. When the food finally arrived, it was underwhelming. The oxtail tasted watered down and lacked depth of flavor, and the pepper shrimp was inconsistently seasoned — some pieces had flavor while others were bland.
The lychee drink was far too strong and extremely sour. I sent it back, but it was returned incorrectly, which only added to the frustration.
Overall, it was a terrible experience, especially considering I was celebrating my birthday. I had hoped for a memorable evening, but sadly, it fell far short of expectations.

Mango Bay completely blew me away. I live on Long Island and randomly found this spot while I was at a college basketball game nearby and decided to stop in after. I have been doing monthly solo dates for myself and this ended up being the perfect place. The atmosphere felt so warm and welcoming. The service stood out too. The host greeted me by name when I arrived and again when I left, which made me feel genuinely valued.
The ackee and saltfish egg rolls were unreal and it was my first time ever trying ackee. For my main I had the lamb shank with garlic sweet potato mash and it was fall off the bone, melt in your mouth good. The sweet plantains were just as amazing. Every bite was flavorful, comforting, and honestly one of the best meals I have had in a long time.

Last night I took my date to Mango Bay for a late Valentine's Day dinner, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The atmosphere was lovely, the service was fantastic, and the food was nothing short of incredible. If you're reading this review and are anything like me ("for these prices, this food better be worth it"), do not hesitate to come here - it is worth it. I had let them know I'd be asking my date to be my girlfriend in our reservation note, and the staff went above and beyond for us: they brought us a pastry and two glasses of champagne to end the night - on the house. Mango Bay, you earned two lifelong customers in my now-girlfriend and I last night. We will definitely be back, and we'll be telling our friends and family they need to come here as well. Thank you so much for helping make a special night even more special. (posting the same review here as I did on Google because I need to make sure the staff sees it, and that people know about this place - that should let you know how great of an impression they left on us last night!)
Great drink and good menu. Everything was delicious. Malik and team were attentive and responsive. Bartender warmed up and delivered memorable drinks.
Unfortunately, my experience at Mango Bay was disappointing. The food was underwhelming, and the service felt rushed and inattentive. While they accommodated our party size change, the overall hospitality did not match expectations. We didn't feel particularly welcomed, and the experience fell short. Overall, 2/10
As an afro-latino, New Yorker, and foodie, I had very high expectations for Mango Bay. There are tons of spots in Brooklyn that often sacrifice ambiance for what we actually go to the restaurants for, the food, and this place surpassed my expectations.
Starting off with the decor and ambiance, this felt like dining in an authentic NY townhouse, with art that represented the Black diaspora and the culinary experience one was going to embark on. The spiral staircase, the large windows, and the open space filled the room with some much energy and visual interest. By far one of the most well designed restaurants I've been to in some time.
For the food, this is where they really shined. Every app hit harder than the last, our favourite was between the pork ribs and the special, baked oysters. Think oysters Rockefeller but on STEROIDS. The flavor was as if the Caribbean and high society had a baby. And as for the pork ribs, tendernism was an understatement and the pomegranate glaze made me want to walk into the kitchen and bribe the chef for the recipe. The entrees were delicious as well, I will certainly have the braised oxtail again the next time we go, as well as the Ras and Pasta. The lamb shank was delicious but a bit too game-y for me.
Lastly, as for the service they were very attentive despite what seemed like an understaffed evening. We went 2 days before Valentines Day, what I would assume is one of the busiest days of the year, and we had to wait a bit for our waiter to get back to us a few times for orders. Someone from the staff did come check on us periodically so I can tell they take great care of their guests even at their busiest!
Overall, this was a great experience and Mango Bay has quickly shot to the top of my favourite spots to eat in my city.
