I just got food poisoning from a severely undercooked burger. I ordered it medium rare and it came rare. I didn't realize at first until the middle was cold, red and falling apart in the bun. I sent it back and they refused to take it off my bill. Only come here if your idea of fun is spending the evening in the restroom popping pepto bismol.
Stopped by for lunch when my husband and I were in town visiting. The food was amazing. The fried pickle dip appetizer was delicious. We are still talking about it.
Went to the Shire for lunch with a friend on Thursday and it was so good that my husband and I went for our date night on Saturday! I had baja shrimp tacos both times. My husband and I shared the locale’s trout dip, and then he had their oysters rockefeller which he said made his Top 10 best meals list ever! Great atmosphere and friendly service. We’ll be back!

The Shire Pub is a locally owned, mom and pop place that feels refreshed under new ownership while still keeping the charm. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and attentive, with Rachel and Emily noted for being great and ensuring everything is great. The food is excellent, not overly fancy, and made fresh—not from the freezer. Menu highlights include perfectly cooked cheeseburgers, the Reuben which melts in your mouth, and medium/parmesan wings with blue cheese made in house. The onion rings are the way to go. The fresh cut fries were well done with good crisp and flavor, though some found them a little soggy. The sour dough bread was a nice touch for the club. The drink from the bar was great, including a constant draft line of Genese CREAM ALE for $3 a pint. The place is super dog friendly. Love the karaoke in the background. The new owners are committed to keeping it welcoming, approachable, and affordable. However, the place will shut down 9/3/25 for changeover to the new owners.
