Leaving this review for my mom. She always comes here with my aunts and they say the food reminds them of home. It’s authentic fuzhou food so don’t expect chicken and broccoli

I ordered vegetable loofah and some expensive seafood dishes, the woman who took my order intentionally waited to tell me that they were out of stock on loofah, she purposely waited until we almost finished eating the seafood, so it was too late for us to change our mind and leave the restaurant, THEN she told me she was out of loofah. I then ordered bitter melon, she said they were also out of it. At the end when I got my check, she wrote $22 as the tip, even though the customer (me) is supposed to decide how much tip to give. She forced me to give her a large tip, which is illegal. This restaurant is UNETHICAL.

Authentic FJ owned establishment. It hits the spot with the traditional duck noodle soup.

I wanted to try something different than my usual haunts in Elmhurst so, having seen this place but never having gone in, decided to give it a try. The signs outside, some of which are written on poster board, are entirely in Chinese. I looked at one of the paper menus outside, found something that looked good and cheap, and went inside. I love places that have no frills decor, not spending money on trendy mood lighting, marble countertops, and so forth, which in turn results in more expensive food. But this place looked... depressing. No pictures, no artwork, nothing. It looked like an unfurnished apartment before move in, right down to the cream colored paint. There were some red lucky knot tassels up due to the recent Chinese New Year but that was it. I ordered the "Assorted Beef Mei Fun", clearly labeled as costing $6, and it was brought out in a bit less than 10 minutes. For some reason, there were no sauces on the table and, instead of filling the small tea cup on the table, they brought me a translucent plastic cup with hot water and a tea bag in it. The broth was weak and a bit on the salty side at first. They brought a tiny dipping plate worth of Sriracha and then later a takeout container of chili sauce, which made the broth much better. The thin rice noodles and the decent quantity of assorted beef (meat, tendon, tripe, etc.) was much appreciated. Decent amount of celery and green onions, too. Unfortunately, upon receiving the bill, this restaurant did something that I respond about as favorably to as biting into cordon bleu or a burrito and finding a bitten-in-half rat: They charged me more than the menu price. $8. I pointed this out to the waitress, who said "No no, that price" and pointed at the receipt. I pointed at the menu again and said "It clearly says right here $6." She summoned a man over in Chinese, who explained to me that the price had gone up recently. I said "I don't care, you didn't update your menu. It says here $6." He said that new menus would be arriving soon. I said "Either I pay $6 or I'm never coming back here again." He agreed, I paid, and I left. This bait-and-switch behavior, this "oh yeah we haven't updated our menu yet and we didn't tell you about the price hike so you'll find out at the end" behavior is completely and utterly unprofessional and intolerable. It's an automatic 1 star review from me and joke's on that man because I probably will never be back. Elmhurst is not exactly lacking in Chinese restaurants and my usual haunts don't pull this bait-and-switch BS. It's a shame too because there were some items on the menu that looked fascinating, but again, I refuse to tolerate this behavior in any way, shape, form or fashion. I've walked out of restaurants without paying the bill when people refuse to honor the price on the menu; most people won't do this, nor will they even raise a stink. They will grumble and pay the "gotcha" price. Let this review serve as a warning of the kind of behavior we all hate and a reminder to vote with your wallets.

Oyster cake can be separately taken as a breakfast or a snack taken together with porridge. It is made of the mixture of rice milk and soybean milk which is further mixed with oyster, pork and celery and made into the stuffing of oyster cake. Deep-fry them with two customized long-handled spoons alternately. The cooked oyster cake is golden, crispy and delicious. It is recommended to take it with Guobianhu.
