“This weekend was a food adventure for the record books, I would really consider it a whole experience. I have been following this restaurant on social media for quite a while and finally had an opportunity to make a reservation.
When we arrived, the bartender (John son-in-law of the owners) let us know there was only one order of bacon wrapped scallops left, we quickly asked if we could reserve that order, man am I glad we did, they were HUGE, the bacon was so tender you could cut it with a fork and the scallops were sweet and delicious.
We wanted to have a few drinks before our meal, so we we ordered Tito’s & Lemonade and Espresso Martini’s.
Well John, pulled out 2 lemons and started squeezing them into the glasses and made fresh squeezed lemonade for the drinks!!!!! Then the espresso martini was also made to order with real espresso and absolutely perfectly, not too sweet.
The special of the day was a Surf and Turf Extravaganza 😂 your choice of steak with jumbo shrimp, seared scallops, a lobster tail and snow crab clusters, which came with fresh made bread and Cesar salad.
The bread was covered in melted cheese and was crispy on the outside and nice and airy on the inside. The salad was well dressed not soggy and the dressing and croutons were definitely house made.
We tried the chicken vegetable soup, also homemade and delicious.
The steaks are all cut in house and cooked to order.
There was so much food with the entree’s!! It was enough for another 1-2 meals. The seafood was fresh and well prepared. The steak was perfectly seasoned the correct temperature and so tender.
We ordered some wings to go just to be sure we had a snack if we needed it later. They were huge wings and the homemade blue cheese dressing was so good, I’m glad we got extra.
A few things to note, there was not a price for the surf and turf special (its pricy but well worth it). They were short staffed so we were there for about 3 hours (not including the hour at the bar before our meal). The waitstaff checked on us to make sure we had drinks and apologized about the time in between courses, we were enjoying our conversation and drinks so it wasn’t a big deal. Another thing to note, parties of 4 or more the gratuity is included in the check. This is definitely a special occasion place if you’re going there for the Surf and Turf special, expect to pay around $150+/person. They do also have other offerings at lower price points and you can opt for a build you own surf and turf with less variety for menu prices.
The restaurant is about 45 minutes to an hour away from Schenectady, it is family owned and operated, it’s really cute inside, I would have preferred some more lighting in the dining room, but they do have lights on each table to help brighten it up a little.“

“Sam's has become a family favorite. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. The food is delicious with hearty portions and fresh tasting ingredients. The atmosphere is cozy and family friendly. My husband and I first tried Sam's on our anniversary and loved it so much that we took the kids one evening for dinner. Now they are looking for any excuse to eat there. Highly recommend!“
