“We had reservations and were seated next to the door on a very cold evening. When we requested to be seated at an empty table away from the door, we were informed that table was reserved. Understandable, but about 20 minutes later, a different table became available, and we requested to move. IlilI cannot believe how incredibly rude the manager was, yelling at the hostess with me in earshot, "no no no! absolutely not, we're going to Keep things how they are, and they table is reserved for a special couple coming at 7. When I explained that I didn't want the reserved table, but one near it, the hostess shrugged and said, "you heard what she said ". It was our first time coming to this restaurant, and had the food not been absolutely stellar, it definitely would have been our last. Of note, The table we requested to move to remained empty with no one seated at it still when we left almost 2 hours later. I definitely think the manager was being rude and obstinate for no purpose. The server was very pleasant, and apologized profusely for the way we were spoken to. The food was delicious, we had sauerbraten which was fork tender and absolutely lovely. The apple strudel was the best I've ever tasted, but unfortunately the black forest cake fell short, tasting nothing of chocolate and cherry, but only heavily soaked in liquor which was overpowering. I was surprised the waitress didn't remove the cake when we told her we didn't care for it, but seeing how the manager acted to our request to change tables, I can only imagine the fury that would have resulted. Overall, we would try it again, on a warmer evening, when we can figure out how to be special enough to reserve a table away from the cold, drafty door.“
