“Sure do miss Frank. Frank knew my Dad before I was born, I have had great times at the Do Drop starting when I was a kid. I remember Frank said, stay out of the Bar area until you turned 18. Frank was a great guy. I loved the pickled eggs. I'll never forget, we stopped in to see Frank one day while riding our 4 wheelers. There was 6 of us. We emptied out the pickled egg jar. Went back the next afternoon and had more. There's a Rattle Snake skin on the pool room wall. My brother Bobby gave the snake to Frank back in the early 60's. It's fangs were 2" long! I wonder if the skin is still there. Frank was always happy to see me, and I him. Frank once told me he worked for the O&W RR. Back in the middle 90's I bought a book that focust on the O&W RR, Frank asked if I would get a book for him after viewing my book. I did, he was happy and so was I. I looked at the book recently and thought of Frank and smiled. Time marches on and waits for no one.Update on 11-23-18I made a trip up from Virginia this weekend to visit family. I stopped in at the Do Drop Inn and paid my respect to Jeanie. We shared old stories gave hugs we even shed some tears as well. I took a photograph of Jeanie with the snake skin in the background. I’m so glad I did so in at the inn Frank ran from the 1930’s.UPDATE, I made another trip from Virginia in January, 2022. Stopped in to say hello to Jeanie. I could believe my eyes I met Jimmy Vitale at the Do Drop Inn. We went to school in Hancock, Jimmy was a few years a head of me in school. We talked about the 67 GTO he had at the time, very nice car. It was Gold with black interior. My Brother Bobby worked for Jimmy’s Dad Carmie Vitale. I even got to see Jerry Bolster at the old Grand Union store, Jerry worked for Vitale Lumber for years.”
“Family-operated serving wholesome food, including Italian dishes. In the rear room is a cute clock which on the hour chimes "Let It Be" by the Beatles. In the front section are booths and a countertop. Clean bathroom and parking for about eight cars. There are a table and chairs for dining al fresco.”
“*Great Food* *Friendly Staff* *Awesome Hygiene*They washed their hands and put on a new pair of food handling gloves in-between different customers, that's the reason I am writing this review and giving them a well deserved 5 star rating ??”
“I've tried over a dozen items from this restaurant - and all were tasty and the portions were plentiful. What I especially like is that the vegs are always fresh and crunchy. The food is never oily - probably helps that I always specify that everything be made with "little oil."”
“Excellent food and service, family owned and operated. Hancock, NY is a welcoming town with friendly local businesses and residents. If you desire something more, head to the Hancock House for excellent food inside or out and a nice beer selection. I recommend the Old Bat Factory for breakfast sandwiches and on the go meals, Hancock house for dinner.”
“We stumbled upon this gem because we were extremely hungry and there weren’t make restaurants on the way.The food was really good. We had pizza and garlic knots, and were done with lunch for two in 10$!!!!The pizza was thin crust with crispy crust. It was delicious ?The facility was extremely clean and well kept.”
“I stopped here with my 2 toddlers driving to NYC. I was super impressed with how clean the restaurant was, especially the play area for the kids. People were constantly cleaning as people left, I saw that the high chairs were sanitized. The staff was very friendly especially Jason who went out of his way with kindness. It was a great experience all around.”
“I was SHOCKED at how flavorful the grilled chicken sandwich is! Wow! I don’t know what the rub or seasoning is they use, but it’s unbelievable. I’m a picky guy who has eaten at some very good places. I’m not even exaggerating when I say this was the best grilled chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. Try it.”
“As a foreign grad student who loves visiting and taking photographs of rural USA where my heart is, I passed by this establishment multiple times and was charmed by its location and its atmosphere. while biking on the rail trail a couple friendly locals recommended me this place so i decided to have lunch there. The food was good if you are into deep fried bar food and the beer well it was chill and definitely better priced. The establishment was very clean including the washrooms even when it was well patronized. The hostess was very gracious, and kind. The only thing that spoiled my lunch was a burly gentleman who came and sat next to me, started talking to me and asked me if I would like to have fun with women and started pointing to the women at the bar. I was annoyed about the way he was talking to me and the ladies at the bar who were hearing what he was saying. I was annoyed for not being able to enjoy my lunch in peace but I also love to talk to locals because it gives me exposure to this beautiful country beyond what i see on tv, but this conversation was definitely not one of those. I cannot blame the establishment or the hostess for such a patron. I definitely recommend this place. its located in such a beautiful location by the river with lots of trees. love it. always takes the good with the bad”
“Rob and Elyce are AWESOME!!! Super accommodating with some great insights on the local area, and the fishing/Guides. They also run a shuttle-service for Hikers and Anglers; very popular among the DIY crowd. Oh yeah, the burgers in the restaurant are huge!!!”
“pelkey’s is by far my favorite bar when I come upstate. Don’t let the interior fool you…both the drinks, the food, and the service are absolutely top notch. And the owner is the friendliest coolest dude this side of the Delaware. If you’re in callicoon, it’s a can’t miss!”
“The absolute best Italian food ever! Fresh, homemade, delicious. This is my favorite place of all time, I bought a house in Lake Como just to be close to the Villa.”
“Went there. And it is a jam-packed place with lots of food people. Good looking women. With like 3 girls to 1 dude ratio. Everyone drinking and chatting and most definitely had a great live band and a solid chef. I spent most of my evening hanging around the chef...who I was honored to meet. Plus.... SLOT MACHINES PAY WELL”
“We ordered pulled pork tacos, fish tacos, and chicken fingers to go. All 5 of us loved the food. Really cool country ambience too. Can't wait to come back here soon and eat in next time. I read the past reviews and I hope they corrected the cross contamination issue. It would be a shame to ruin a perfect place with such a minor error but no one wants to get sick.”
“The ice cream was wonderful!! The staff was friendly and sweet to our children. They have the cutest children picnic tables in their sitting area!! Thank you for the great customer service and delicious product!!”
