About Kohaku Japanese restraun

Kohaku Japanese restaurant is a true hidden gem and the closest thing to Japan there is in New York. It is an authentic, casual, Tokyo-style spot that looks like a throwback sushi restaurant from a side street of Tokyo, not fancy by any means. The restaurant has been in business for about 38 years, and its longevity speaks loudly for its quality.

The sushi is absolutely incredible, authentic, delicious, and the most fresh you will find. It is a genuine, old-school sushi experience that blows other spots out of the water. The food is worth the wait, seasoned to perfection. This is how sushi should be served. The **Niaz Squid Ginger** is mentioned with love. The **Ramen** is also amazing, very genuine and authentic, and the best miso ever tasted.

Run by a Japanese family that knows what they are doing, it is recommended for a casual spot and for any of the specialty rolls. It is not the place for frills or a fancy date night, but for an authentic and delicious meal. It is a real gem.

We are semi-regular customers. Although we live in Queens, when we are on LI and want to eat sushi, this is our go-to place.

You will never find another Japanese restaurant like it. The owners will welcome you and make the best sushi you’ve ever had. Better than any high end restaurant. When you walk in you’ll feel like you’re home and I highly recommend the onigiri. I haven’t had homemade onigiri like theirs since 2012, and that was when i was in Japan. This is a true gem!

God I miss this place ...what id give for one more night with a hot sake a katsu kurry and kens laughs
