I am from South Africa and we were in New York for a week after a bicycle trip.
We stayed in Jackson Heights, and on our final night before leaving, we ate at Empanadas Mix.
We had Cachapa and it was delicious!

Based on the reviews, Empanadas Mix offers the best empanadas, which are on the larger side compared to other places and full of amazing flavors. The staff are very friendly, very helpful, and amazing. The space is very cute, small, and cozy, with a very cheerful atmosphere and great Venezuelan music. The food is so amazing, with recommendations including pernil, shrimp, and picanha. Some fillings, like the guava con queso and mechada platano queso blanco, are delicious, though some savory fillings have an unexpected sweetness. The restaurant is very generous with the sauces and does not charge for them separately. Other menu items include the Pepito Mix sandwich loaded with beef and chicken, and arepas with carne asada, pork belly, sweet plantains, special sauce, and shredded queso. Drinks include fresh passion fruit juice and cold MaltΓn Polar. It is a family-owned business with an amazing vibe.
