Earlier this morning.....
My first experience at Door Restaurant in the borough of Queens....
OMG I tried the Traditional Jamaican Breakfast: Liver, Saltfish, Callaloo, provisions omg. Couldn't eat it all but I killed the Saltfish. Restaurant wasn't crowded. Good service..
I still have enough leftovers for a few more meals 😂😂😂😂
My friend enjoyed her jerk chicken with peas and rice.. 😋
On 4/10/25 at 3:15 pm I visited The Door. I placed my order with an inhospitable person, I asked, how long would it take to receive my order? I was told; it will take 15 minutes. soon it became 25 minutes, then 45 minutes. Then I got so tired. I asked the receptionist how long more should I expect? The answer was a little more. I had to leave because the order took too long. Could they do a little better than that?
Beautiful atmosphere and amazing food!

The Door restaurant offers good takeout options with a brief wait, though the wait times can be longer due to its popularity. For dine-in, prices have risen, with some meals, like the chicken fingers and fries, being quite expensive. The food is known for being authentic and well-prepared, with dishes like brown stew chicken and rice and peas receiving high praise. While the ambiance and service may justify the higher cost for some diners, budget-conscious customers might want to consider this.
There have been occasional issues with orders, such as incorrect dishes, but the staff is attentive and double-checks orders, helping to minimize mistakes during busy times. The restaurant has a parking lot available on weekdays and permission to use a nearby church lot on Sundays, except for Sundays after 3pm. It is wheelchair accessible, with a flat surface from the street. Overall, The Door is a highly recommended spot for delicious, authentic food that is worth the trip, whether dining in or taking out.
