Bowery Dugout Reviews
We had the best time at dinner. The food was so fresh and tasty. The breading on the clams tasted so good. Everything we had tasted homemade and fresh. I can’t wait to go back again. I would go everyday if it were closer to me. I live in Albany.
The food and the staff are amazing!
You should go to Google and read the lower reviews...they align exactly with my experience.
New England Clam Chowder: Taste and texture more like thick cream of potato soup with some clams in it. Congealed rapidly.
Lobster tails: About 3/4 of the tails portion was mushy, as though they had been thawed, refrozen, then thawed again. For the price (didn't mind the price), ALL food served should have been fresh like it was off the boat.
Jumbo stuffed shrimp: NOT...read full review

Bowery Dugout offers outstanding food, featuring highlights like the Zuppa di Pesce and fresh raw clams and oysters. Many customers describe the food as fresh and tasty, with a homemade quality that makes it special. The breading on the clams is particularly praised. Service can be slow, especially for large groups, and solo visitors may be overlooked. Some dishes, such as the King combo and Vegetable medley, may be overcooked. Despite this, the staff are kind and pleasant, with reviews highlighting a server named Beth who adds a special touch to the dining experience. The restaurant's atmosphere is calming, especially in the downstairs area, and it has been a beloved spot in the Hudson Valley for many years. It offers a simple start with a crudite plate and garlic bread, with meals coming with soup or salad. The salad is fresh and carefully made, with a homemade blue cheese dressing as a highlight. The menu is extensive, including surf and turf, seafood combination dishes (both broiled and fried), seafood Newburgh, and crabmeat-stuffed filets. The Chicken Cordon Bleu is a popular choice, moist and served with delicious gravy. Other options like Seafood Newburgh, Blackened Salmon, and the seafood combo come with potatoes or fresh mixed vegetables. The restaurant is known for old-style hospitality and a labor of love. Thursday specials include oysters & clams, shell crab tempura, and crabcake items, and guests are advised to arrive early. Desserts like lemon cello mascarpone cake are a treat, and the overall experience remains a classic favorite.
