Had dinner with friends at Barney’s in Locust Valley. I ordered duck, the breast was overcooked & charred on the outside. Sent it back. Came out the second time literally raw & cold in the middle. Sent it back. By that time my companions were almost done with their dinner. I choose not to have it done a third time nor order another dinner as I didn’t want to be sitting there eating when everyone else was finished.
The owner, after awhile, came to the table and proceeded to berate me loudly in the middle of the dining room for sending the food back. He created a scene in front of the other dinners. The purpose of that was what? He looked so ridiculous. So much hostility from him. He went on to state his chef was trained by a Michelin chef & this never happens.
Mind you my friend had the same dinner & hers was prepared perfectly while mine was not ate-able twice.
The owner never apologized & was clearly angry at me!!!! How dare I send the food back.
He did eventually remove the charge for my dinner from the bill & right before we left gave me a gift certificate to come back, which I will not because his treatment of his guests was unacceptable.
The issue with the food is one thing & if was just that I would not have left a review because I understand things happen.
It was the owner’s abusive tirade & behavior that was the problem and so unprofessional.

Purchased a gift card on December 21, 2023 - never was delivered to the recipient via email, called the restaurant over 5 times January through June - management blew me off - has still not been delivered with no refund, would not waste my time here

Food was totally off! We had the foie gras special, avocado toast, cheese burger - nothing was good, not to mention expensive so one would only expect more! They didn't come as described (no sour dough bread instead it came with white bread and eventually was replaced with English muffin after we complained; the brioche came as a regular bun for the burger), burger was well done instead of medium; avocado toast and foie gras were uninspired! Sorry but not coming back!
The service was excellent. The cocktails were top-notch. The style of the menu was not to my 100% liking but the lamb chops were exceptional. The restaurant was very expensive with gratuity three people eight for over $400.
We had a wonderful meal at Barney's last night. The duck pappardelle was amazing as were the soft shell crabs. The bartender Nina is fantastic and makes great drinks as well as being so welcoming!!! Get over to Barney's and enjoy!!
Once again a lovely experince with great service, great food and a good wine. Parlor Room was quiet with soft and pleasant background music. The service and our server were exceptional and the meal was well prepared, as ordered and well portioned.
This is a favorite and the owners are wonderful people.

The food and overall experience was exceptional. The portions were quite generous and the service, in particular Ryan, was outstanding! I highly recommend Barney's for a high quality dining experience!
A bit disappointed with this one. Food seemed a bit dated, perhaps stuck in the 90's or early 2000's. Some technical flaws in the dishes such as a broken sauce or over salted dish. Overall, not really worth thr price thought the atmosphere was very nice.

Feels like you could be in a New England inn right in Locust Valley - charming, local, lively with a broad menu and excellent specials. We go for occasions but will start to go more regularly - it's a great place in the great town of Locust Valley
What a disappointing dining experience. The drinks were watered down , the appetizer of baked clams was just Ok , the papadelle was acceptable but nothing to write home about. The stirfry vegetables with seafood was drenched in a tasteless sauce The shrimp was overcooked and the scallops were passable We hardly ate it. My husband and friend ordered the lamb chops, which came out well done, even though it was ordered medium rare. We sent it back and it came back rare. The dining experience was was subpar and ridiculously $$$ for substandard food they attempt to make things better. We were offered two glasses of wine, although we were four people who were all inconvenienced by the return of the food. Oh and main meal was cold and late !!!!

We went to Barney’s yesterday for Mother’s Day luncheon, and we had a really lovely experience. The service was wonderful, very kind and gracious. They found us a quiet table despite the busy day, and the food was delicious. We had the duck and the lamb, which were both excellent. My only critique is that there was no gluten-free bread or crackers to go with the paté they were serving with the four course prefix meal. I feel like at this point in time most restaurants have some crackers or something on hand.
Despite this one thing, we will certainly go back. The atmosphere is quaint and charming, which is very hard to find Long Island these days.

My wife and I had dinner tonight. Food was amazing first time there . We decided to stop in and try . What a great decision. You have to go there see for yourself . Our whole experience was perfect .
They were out of several entrees that we wanted which was inexcusable for a high end restaurant. The paella had zero taste and the chicken in it was dry like shoe leather. The service was disappointing they asked if I wanted fresh pepper on my salad I said yes and they never came back. They offered to comp a couple of drinks and then they showed up on our bill. Their excuse was tomorrow is Mother's Day and everything is a little off tonight. Really? This can't be their first Rodeo. Been there many times always enjoyed it. I hope they get their act together.
