Fresh fish, portioned rice for sushi- ordered set Omakase- 9 pcs.Uni is fresh (ordered extra Uni) but perhaps rice was just a tiny bit more than expected.
The food and service was good. No liquor license yet but that's fine. Great location, just not much to seperate them from any other Japanese spot. Looked like they were allowing folks to byob, which is quite considerate. Prices decent considering the area.
What a great find in Long Island City! The sushi was incredibly fresh, and every roll we ordered was absolutely delicious. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients, and everything was beautifully prepared.

Matsuzuki Sakura is a casual restaurant in Long Island City that offers a solid dining experience with a welcoming ambiance. The decor features eye-catching paper fish art chandeliers, creating a cozy yet vibrant atmosphere suitable for casual outings or even a double date. The restaurant is known for its friendly and quick service, with staff consistently providing a warm welcome and attentive care. The menu highlights fresh fish, with the spicy crab sushi roll being a popular favorite, and they also offer a great weekday lunch special — three rolls for $15 with soup or salad. Prices are fair and reasonable, especially considering the area's dining scene. While they currently do not have a liquor license, the restaurant allows guests to bring their own alcohol, which adds a considerate touch. The food quality varies; while some reviews praise the freshness and flavor of their sushi and fried ice cream dessert, others note that the fish can be average and the rice overcooked. The restaurant features modern touches like tablets as menus, although this can be confusing for ordering. Overall, Matsuzuki Sakura is a good spot for affordable, flavorful sushi and a pleasant dining environment, with friendly staff and a convenient location.
