To dine at House of Stefas is to pass through a veil—not of mist, but of olive oil and fire-kissed herbs—into a realm where the old gods still whisper through the lemon trees. Nestled in the mortal lands of the Hudson Valley, this sanctuary of flavor does not simply serve food; it conjures an experience worthy of Olympus.

The ambiance? Imagine the warmth of Apollo’s light cast across lacquered walls, the low hum of Dionysian joy in the air. There is laughter, but not the hollow kind—it is the full-bellied kind, shared by old friends and strangers who will not remain so for long.

The food? Nectar and ambrosia have met their match. Tender lamb that falls apart like the threads of fate, dolmades wrapped tighter than Athena’s secrets, and tzatziki so divine it could quell the wrath of Ares himself.

And the people—ah, the people. Not gods, no—but perhaps their chosen. Clad in white jackets and bow ties, they move with the quiet grace of tradition and the practiced ease of those who understand that hospitality is an art, not a task. At House of Stefas, the service is not merely attentive—it’s ceremonial. Not stiff, never distant, but infused with a kind of reverence—for food, for guests, for the shared ritual of the table.

So whether you seek a meal, a memory, or a fleeting brush with the timeless, know this: the House of Stefas awaits. Step through its doors and be transported—not by wings, nor by wind, but by the simple, sacred magic of being truly welcomed.

Had high expectations based on reviews/price and was a little disappointed. Restaurant and decor were great but service and food not 5 star. Tirokafteri and smoked eggplant were delicious but the main dishes, prawns, and bluefin tartare were 4 star. Expected more.

If you love seafood with upscale Greek flair, this is easily your best option between Albany and White Plains. Their galaktoboureko ranks in my top 5 ever, it was not overly sweet and with perfect texture. The fluke crudo and wagyu pistachio were also standouts.

However, they had some clear misses tonight. The lamb and pepper flatbread was bland and had the texture of pate on pita. The prawn ouzo was poorly thought out. If you're going to serve prawns with heads on, those heads should be cooked well enough to be edible. Otherwise you're left with tomato ouzo soup filled with floating heads, and at $26 for two prawns, it feels like highway robber.

Side note: you might need a cryptographer to decipher the menu. It's oddly busy in a way that's both amusing and frustrating.

Still, the restaurant is beautiful, with an excellent wine list, and our waiter was thoughtful and engaging. We'll definitely return for another round and another toast.

This restaurant is phenomenal. I've dined around the world, including at many Michelin stars, and this is one of the best places I've been to. No expense is spared. The attention to detail is profound. The atmosphere is unmatched. The service is exceptional. The food. I don't even think I have words for the food. This is a restaurant that embodies a philosophy. You're invited into more than a dining experience, but a way of life.
