Such a fun little fish & chips spot! The cod was the star of the show, super flavorful and crispy in the best way. The hardock was okay, not really my thing, but still worth a try. Everything came out hot, crunchy, and super satisfying. They also have fun soda drinks to try out too. Great portions, good vibes, and definitely a spot I’d hit again when I’m craving fish & chips.

Food is freshly made after you order. The cashier's English accent is 😍. The place is very clean. But it it pricy, and if you use credit card, you must pay extra 2.83%; if you dine-in, you must give tips, 18% & above.

The experience was like a quick trip to the UK for about $30 instead of a $300 flight. The tiny place reminded me of a traditional chip shop somewhere in Greenwich or Romford neighborhoods in London, where I used to stay. My order was fish and chips with mushy peas on the side and a bubbled Dandelion and Burdock drink. The chips came with a flavorful savory sauce. The fish was cooked very well, and my overall experience was very positive.

$35 for fish and chips and a beer?! The fish is fresh, but tasteless.
They charge money for extra sauce

The fish is mushy and doesn't have any flavour, I couldn't finish it. Wouldn't recommend for the food

The only place in Manhattan for real English Fish and Chips. The counter staff are top notch. Very small space and only indoor bar stools to sit on. I hope they move to a larger location so more customers can dine in.

A Salt & Battery – Little England’s Crown Jewel (and my unexpected engagement venue)
As an Irishman raised on centuries of justified British skepticism, I walked into A Salt & Battery ready to hate everything about it. The name alone felt like a slap from Cromwell. But then I took one bite of that golden, crisp, perfectly greasy cod, and—God help me—I forgave the Empire for about eight minutes.
The batter was a shatteringly delicate miracle, the chips had that ideal ratio of crunch to squish, and the malt vinegar hit like a nostalgic fever dream of every pub meal I pretended to hate back home. It’s the best fish and chips I’ve had on this side of the Atlantic, and maybe even the other.
And yet, the food was only half the experience. Somewhere between my second pint and my third handful of chips, I found myself in the men’s room—don’t ask how fate works—where I met a charming stranger by the sink. One thing led to another (as it tends to when you share a bottle of vinegar and an appreciation for flaky white fish), and now we’re engaged. I proposed right there, half-drenched in fryer air and British irony. He said yes before the hand dryer even finished.
So yes, I went in as a proud Fenian ready to sneer at English culinary colonization, and left with both a full stomach and a fiancé. Five stars, two hearts, and one deep-fried redemption arc.

Their dishes surprise your taste buds and staff makes you feel welcome. I expected A Salt & Battery to be good based on talk and it was better. Exceptional customized service. Food lovers who care about quality and price will appreciate this restaurant. The ratings match the actual experience.

The service is great and the guy behind the counter is really chill so for that I'll give them 5 stars. But the food does not stand up to the hype. I got the Cod and it was mushy & tasteless inside and out. the house sauce really didn't have any flavor. The fries didn't look or taste like real coated double-fried chips. In fact, they are just regular French Fries. The coleslaw was unbelievably without any flavor too and had more mayo than cabbage. Tables were dirty and sticky i wasn't eating in so im not going to say much about that. Again.... the staff is really nice and I appreciate them but I would never return. Please visit at your own discretion

Maybe it was an off day but the fish and chips committed assault and battery on my tastebuds. Maybe the fish was old? I’ll try another day

Highly recommend this spot to any brit that is now in the area or travelling. It was a dearly missed taste of home. The chips were propper chippy chips, the potato fritters were amazing. (They call them potato dabs) I suppose it's a regional thing south vs. north Britain. Also the curry sauce was excellent as was the very friendly staff. Great customer service. Will absolutely go back next time im in NYC.
