Don Angie is a small, cozy restaurant known for its delicious dishes and excellent food. The menu features the iconic lasagna, served in their signature rolled pinwheel style, which looks just as good as it tastes. The pasta is thin and delicate, layered with rich cheese and sauce that balance perfectly without being overwhelming. Other standout dishes include the cauliflower with Frank's Hot Sauce, calamari with fried rice, and stuffed garlic bread, all prepared to perfection. The chrysanthemum salad and green salad topped with cheese are popular choices among guests. The wine selection is impressive, and the spicy veal tartare makes for a refreshing appetizer. Visitors often enjoy dishes like the bbq calamari and sourdough pasta cacciatore. The service is attentive and friendly, with staff quick to handle any issues. The environment can be quite noisy, but the overall experience is well worth the wait, especially for those able to snag a reservation. Guests leave satisfied and eager to return for more flavorful dishes and the warm, inviting ambiance. Recent reviews highlight the excellent quality of the lasagna, chrysanthemum salad, and Japanese sweet potatoes, though some dishes like shell steak al limone can be overcooked and served cold. The atmosphere and service are highly appreciated, making it a favorite spot in NYC for many.
