Food is decent and the vibe of the place is nice. We came in for dessert and drinks. We felt it was way too expensive for one slice of cake. What was a bit more disappointing, is that about half their drink menu was “unavailable” for whatever reason. No draft beers were available either. We paid $12 a slice and $6-10 for a drink which seemed a bit pricey.
What a great dinner we had here! Everyone is so kind, and the food is amazing as are the cocktails. Everything was truly exceptional! Also, Taco Tuesday means $3 tacos that are delicious -- great for locals and worth the trip!
I had a great first impression of this restaurant. Very nice ambiance inside. The food was also very good, we had the cheese and guava puffs and the Avocado toast. The main course was also good, we had the French toast and the steak and eggs. The issue came with the bill. I’ve honestly never heard of a restaurant including the 18% gratuity for a party of two. Our server wasn’t too bad, however she did disappear at times. My husband had to get up to ask for the bill.
Loved the atmosphere. Didn't like that I had to wait over an hour for my food order. Thankfully the bar tender (Dolly i believe is her name)was very sweet and approached us with updates on our order which made me change my mind and wait for it. Customer service should be a look out, because the place itself is amazing as well as the food. Workers just need to know when to approach a table that has not been yet served.
We were super excited to visit this new place in The Heights, but we didn’t have the best experience. We had waited for an 1 hour and 15 minutes for our food. We ordered a couple of appetizers, a salad, and a sandwich cause we were starving! After waiting for this long, I went to our waitress and asked what happened and she said that the kitchen was a bit slammed so our food would be ready in other 15-20 minutes. We didn’t understand why, since the place only had 3-4 other tables, who were also upset about the waiting times. Only couples, not big parties. Our beers also took forever! When we ordered the second round, we had to go to the front and get it ourselves. Beers took 20-25 minutes to be served and it was ridiculous! There were 2-3 other people working, and the place was not busy at all. It looked like they didn’t care.I work as a waitress, I get that things happen but this service was simply terrible. I’m always on top of my tables, and if there is something happening, I make sure they know. If the kitchen was really that slammed, a bit of communication would’ve been nice. We ended up leaving after an hour and a half with no food, and they ended up charging us for the beers… With an included gratuity!!!An 18% tip is already included in every bill, which is great for the servers, (again, I’m a server so I get it), but they don’t even try to give a good service because of this. They know the tip will be included, so they don’t care. I’m talking about every bill, not just big parties.I normally tip at least 20-22% every time. If the service is good, I give up to 50%. But this type of service does not deserve a mandatory 18%. The kitchen, servers and bartenders are very slow. Not around at all. Nobody checked up on us. Nobody said anything. There were other tables also complaining about the service yesterday. So it wasn’t just us.The place seemed awesome. It’s beautiful and we like to see new places opening in The Heights, but they need to take their jobs seriously if they want the place to be successful. Beers that take over 20 minutes and simple food that is not ready after an hour and half is unacceptable. Communication is key. I really hope they do better! Also, if you are including an 18% gratuity on the bill, make sure the service deserves so!
This is my absolute favorite restaurant. The food is always fantastic and no matter what I order I am always delighted with my meal! Servers are also great and always efficient, happy and polite. Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in Washington heights.
My family & I went there to celebrate my 70th Birthday. The food was superb, but the service was spotty at best.As we ordered, we piled the menus at the end of the table. As we finished appetizers, we piled empty dishes on top of the menus. When the entrées were delivered (at uncomfortably long intervals), we finally had to ask that the pile of dishes and menus be removed, which they were. The establishment was obviously understaffed, and our waiter was evidently very new to the job, but the food was superb!
My husband and I love this place. This is in our neighborhood and we love supporting local businesses. The food is so delicious. Every staff member that we have met has always been so nice. Brittany , the bartender is always welcoming and charming. We like having dinner at the bar. We have been many times, and we will return.
The patacon bites appetizer is great. The Chofan was also very good—sort of a Caribbean-Asian fusion.
Great food, friendly staff and very nice atmosphere. Angelica's Uptown serves Latin fusion food and is highly recommended.

We were in town visiting family and we were invited to this gem of a restaurant. Food, staff, ambiance and presentation was out of this world! Owner was super nice and made his way to every table to welcome everyone and make sure everything was good. And is sure was! There was 7 of us who all ordered different things and all was presented as if it belonged in a magazine! Definitely need to try this place. You will NOT be disappointed!
Wonderful place to eat and relax. Extremely friendly & attentive customer service. The food & setting is phenomenal. They placed my order quickly & my meal came out delicious!!!!! Would highly recommend to my friends and family.
Truly, it is not customary for me to write reviews. AT ALL…EVER!However, for this one, I was compelled to so.Here’s why…Last Saturday Eve, out with party of 7, Family & Friends. Went to a well liked local Restaurant in Riverdale, Bronx. Waited on line a while to request a table before being told we’d have about a 30min wait. Not much to do near location while waiting so we decided to try and find another spot. Suggested Angelica’s Uptown as I had visited with a Friend shortly after the opening a couple months prior. Both very much enjoyed experience and wanted to go back with Folks I thought might want to check out a new place. All agreed. Called ahead to make certain we could get a table. One of the Owners, “Blue” answered the call. Explained situation, his response…”We gotju, come on over.”Got to Angelica’s not long after they opened for Dinner. Walked in and were merrily ~ yes, that’s right, I wrote “merrily” ~ greeted by Staff and Owner. Was still early, only a few tables occupied. Chose outdoor seating. Picnic tables were a bit too tight for us all so we asked if we could put tables together to create more space. Tho’ this took a bit of rearranging, request was both granted and executed cheerfully.Settled in and ordered drinks. That particular Eve, there were two Frozen Specialty drinks offered and although they have a full Bar, there yet was no Cocktail menu. I wanted a mixed drink and couldn’t decide what to choose. One of our Servers invited me to go talk to the Bartender. At the Bar, I and my, "Cocktail choice indecision", were Warmly Welcomed by Valerie the Bartender. She asked what I liked, we discussed preferred Spirits and flavor profiles and she Custom Crafted two different drinks over the course of the Evening. Both were Delicious and as my Brooklyn, Italian Grandmother would say, “Right Up My Alley!”Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choices. We waited a while for the food to come out but all agreed that we expect as much when a meal is freshly prepared. Each Appetizer, Entree, Drink & Dessert was Plated and Presented Beautifully! We spent quite a bit of time leisurely Dining and felt comfortable doing so as not once did we feel rushed even as tables filled. Staff was ~ Shout Out to Servers Tania & Erenia!!! ~ genuinely Friendly, Attentive and Helpful. Blue, the Owner, visited each table, chatted with Patrons, encouraged feedback and was simply real easy ~ Like Sunday Mornin’ ~ to be around. We will absolutely be back again!========= Post Script. =========Before writing review, I read thru’ some of the others. Wanna take a “minit’ to share what perhaps we ought earnestly consider...if we find that a a particular venue is not quite what we expected or wanted and we have the opportunity to discuss an issue face to face with the people who can actually do something about it, ought this not be the thing to do? Does it make any sense at all to sit thru’ an experience that isn’t enjoyable, then leave and elsewhere take the time to write a poor review that does who any good? Tears down instead of edifies?Imagine this…Talking, in person, to the Folks ~ especially the Owners, who in Angelica’s case, are available to discuss an issue ~ who can answer questions, implement changes, fix a problem, address concerns, etc.Radical huh?! Origin of word “Radical” is “Root”. To be “Radical” is to get back to the “Root” of a thing. Let’s be Radical! Instead of writing and posting from behind a screen, step up and express in person.Experience at Angelica’s really was a damn good one! Was it “perfect”? No, it wasn’t. But…and “but” negates, Staff and Owner were right there to talk to and facilitate whatever was needed. Which is why I took the time to bother writing this review.*Note: Photos were taken from first visit in July.
