My family and I visited this place hoping for Malaysian food, but it wasn’t really authentic. The place is also very small, but service was great. It is also right next to this Taiyaki ice cream place that is awesome.

"What is your favorite restaurant in all 5 boroughs?" No brainer. Aux Epices is the most incredible hole in the wall find not just in Chinatown, but in NYC. The husband & wife team who own the restaurants are super personable (not to mention SO ADORABLE together), and their tiny outpost is dripping with charm & ambiance, but most importantly the French Malaysian fusion that comes out of that kitchen is in contention for the most delicious food I've ever had. No matter what you order, from the whole roasted branzino to the malacca laksa, everything is done to perfection. You will certainly not regret coming here once, twice, or 100 times when you can't decide what to eat for dinner.

I've never been disappointed by this place. Food is always delicious and consistent. As well as the lines!

I think I made a mistake ordering the beef noodles. It was greasy and very bland. My friend ordered the Mee Goreng and it was delicious. The pratha was nice. I would go back because of the Mee Goreng. Maybe some items here are just A LOT better than others.

Crispy Anise Duck Roll ($8) - didn't really taste much of any subtle anise flavor. Barely any duck, mostly fillers. Would suggest passing on this. Escargot ($8) - pieces not overcooked with subtle garlic flavor. Smelled more delicious than it tasted. Comes with thin slices of sesame coated bread. Malacca Laska ($16) - note: this comes with thick egg noodles. Substantial portion of shrimp, clams, fish cake, tofu, chicken & noodles. Flavor was wonderful - coconut & spices really came through. I could've gone spicier. Totally recommend. Rendang Lamb ($20) - my fried ordered this and I didn't try any. But according to him, he would've liked the lamb to have some bigger pieces rather than shredded pieces. He wouldn't get it again but enjoyed it nonetheless. Many other options, definitely a place to check out and I will be back!

Lovely little quaint restaurant with gracious service. The fettuccine noir almost made me eat the plate. I will definitely be back sooner rather than later. The lemonade was so tasty.

I found this place on seated and had a last minute reservation on a Friday night. The place is small intimate and romantic! It is very cozy! The food was also excellent we got the calamari and it was so flavorful! Pork buns were also delicious and the seafood entrees overall were great. I must say I will be coming back because the service is impeccable! Our server was so kind! Addressed me by name BC I made a reservation and it's truly the best service I had in a while. I also think the chef came out a couple times to give me my food!!! I recommend coming here it's right next to the fish ice cream place. I can't believe I missed it.

I've been to Aux Epices a few times. The food is top notch -- the laksas and the lamb rendang are so flavorful. The food is served promptly when ordered. The couple that opens the place are super sweet and chatty.

Very flavorful food. Quaint and personal atmosphere. The restaurant is a French - Malaysian place, with reasonable prices. However, service can be a bit slow. We ordered the baby bok choy, tofu mushroom soup, and ratatouille as starters, all of which were quite light. Seafood Laksa and the Reddang Chicken were our entrees, both of which were very flavorful. For dessert, we got the Apple / Mango tart and the purple pudding (forget the full name). Both of which were phenomenal.

Love this place! The food and staff are excellent. I've never had a bad dish here. My favorite is the seafood laksa. In the winter it warms you up real quick

Was in the area in need of satisfying my hunger pangs and saw this little gem, interestingly enough it's run by a husband and wife duo. As soon as I walked it, the space felt homey, cozy and inviting. Walked up to the end of the space and was greeted by the husband who was currently having a big lunch and the wife who is tending the kitchen. Since there was only a few patrons, i selected my preferred seating and was greeted quickly with the menu, and specials. The husband gave me a few suggestions based on my interests on a few items. I started with the tofu satay, and let me say it was one of the best I've had. All the different components just felt like a party in my mouth. For my main entree I went with the pineapple salmon stew dish accompanied by coconut rice and pickled veggies. It was lighter in spice than anticipated but the flavors were all there. It was very good and satisfying, even though the portion seemed small, I left with a happy belly. I'd love to go back during the weekend and try either their brunch or dinner menus.

Came here for dinner with a friend. The server explained the specials and many items on the menu. The atmosphere is a little dark but would be perfect for a date night. The food was pretty good for the location.

We have been here several times and it's always delicious. The owners are very attentive and are happy to answer any questions you have about the menu. The restaurant is small but cozy and the menu has a hybrid assortment of both French and Malaysian delicacies. I would highly recommend Aux Epices to anyone looking for a foodie adventure-you won't be disappointed! Please note it is CASH ONLY, so just come prepared.

The food is just so so. Not good as Asian cuisine, not enough to be French. Squid ink pasta (?) had too much tomato sauce to taste the seafood flavor. Not sure what they are aiming here.
