Had one of the worst dining experiences at this location today. My family and I have been going to this restaurant for over two decades and always have had a great dining experience. Today was a complete disappointment from the server who lacked experience to the temperature of the food that was delivered at room temperature. The server disappeared several times with no opportunity to tell him the food wasn't hot. He also spilled my martini when he was bringing it from the bar. My family and I were at this point starving and just left it as is. I made a complaint with one of the managers about our experience that it was not up to par to carmines standards. This location needs to train their waiters better and learn to serve their food hot.
Nice family style Italian meals. Very large portions made to be shared. Good value and nice open environment
Everyone from the gost to the wait staff were kind welcoming and on point with order, service and suggestions.
The young lady who seated us at the table needs more awareness training. Brought my mom here for het birthday; we erre seated by the 5ft female. As she brought our garlic bread to the table she did not bring the garlic oil that is used to for bread appetizer. Not only with us but I notice she did not give it to another couple seated across from us. She rushed to have people seated but did not carefully check to make sure we all were served properly while waiting for our waiter. Introduction is everything . Please have workers who are happy to see ppl and communicate. Overall our waiter was phenomenal .
Great time food and service! Reservation was on point. Friendly service always walking away happy.
We have been many time through the years but never remember it being sooo loud - bad acoustics.
Food was great--overall a very nice experience. There was one slight mishap. We ordered calamari as an app, but they accidentally sent out our main course first. This was fine with us, but instead, they took the food back and brought out the calamari first and then brought the mains back out again. It was kind of weird because we didn't know if that meant our pastas were just sitting in the back of the kitchen while we were waiting for / eating the calamari :(
My party of 14 arrived a few minutes late, and were promptly seated and served. Since it was a Monday, the restaurant was not crowded and our server was quite attentive. Food was good, drinks were good, and birthday celebration was as expected. I would definitely return to celebrate with family and friends in the future.
It was beautiful. The entire staff was great Spencer our server was awesome. Thanks for making my daughter's birthday special. 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Been going since 1992, mostly UWS...still great although the bread basket has become less “varied.” Please fix that Mr Carmine!

I have been going to Carmine's since the day they opened for both lunch and dinner. The entire staff, as always, was first rate. We were greeted and seated promptly upon arrival. The waiter gave us the food menu and drink list, along with the day's specials very quickly. He asked if we knew that the portions were all family size. Water and bread came next. We gave our drink order and they also came without any delay. We ordered the appetizer of fried calamari. It was crispy, fresh and hot out from being fried. Now comes my complaint: Our main course was the chicken parmesan with spaghetti. At best the entire dish was tasteless. The chicken cutlet's coating was soggy. The tomato sauce was bland and boring. The cheese was the same. No way was it in any stretch of the imagination real "parmesan". It was a sheet of some white stuff, but not real cheese. Sadly, I will not be returning to Carmine's. Just another Upper West Side restaurant that is in decline.
Everything was Great.... The Food was Excellent.,. The Service was Excellent..., The overall experience was Excellent... The Dessert was Excellent... Your Front Reception women were Excellent
Huge dishes, family style. Great atmosphere and even better prices. I wish I lived here so I could come back all the time! Servers were great! Thanks Chris!
Food was excellent. Atmosphere was great. Prices very reasonable for Family Style in NYC. Would definitely return and would definitely recommend!
Very disappointing dinner at Carmine's. The whole family was in town (6 adults, 3 kids), so we thought it would be fun to come back to Carmine's for some family style Italian. I will start with the positives, the wait staff and busboys were fantastic, and save for one server dropping a plate of croutons on our table that resulted in them all sliding off onto the tablecloth, the servers were great as well. Unfortunately, the food they were delivering is largely mediocre at best. We started with a Caesar salad and calamari - these courses were good and I will say the calamari exceeded expectations (if not for this, I'd be giving a single star on food). However, two of our three mains were nearly inedible. Shrimp scampi with angel hair was extremly dry - any sauce that may have been on the plate disappeared into the angel hair, which then became unnaturally dense. We got the clams in white wine sauce with gluten free fusilli, which came out undercooked, not al dente - and trust me, it wasn't because it was gluten free pasta, the pasta would've been fine if cooked correctly - and the clams were chewy (I'm assuming canned). Our third main was veal parmigiana, which we all ate as it was the best of the three, although this was probably the worst rendition I've ever had (even compared to prior Carmine's visits). Aside from the food, the noise level is extreme. Do not expect to be able to talk to anyone on the other side of a round table and all of us needed to get up and relocate in order to have a conversation. If anyone in your party is soft spoken (as one our children is) they will not be heard, and likely not happy. The occassion unfortunately put a damper on what NYC should have on offer to family from out of town.
