The best damn fish and chips in town! They were so light, they were ethereal. The chips were crunchy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. Every dish we had was DELICIOUS! Chartreuse Oysters, crab kedgeree, smoked white fish croquettes, tuna tartare and more! We inhale the desserts as well. Pretty sure it was my first time having a posset. The service was also very good. My only issue with the place is the size. It's tight, but they would not stop

As a British expat, I had wanted to try the fish and chips at Dame for years. It is one of my favorite comfort foods and I try it any chance I get. Dame served a reasonable rendition of the dish more in line with a fancy gastropub than a local chippie. The fish was well cooked, but the batter was quite shaggy and floury and the portion was on the small side. The chips were very good though, chunky, crispy with a soft interior. Fish 3/5, chips 4.5/5The other food we ordered, the squid skewers, the cod with lentils, and the drinks were pretty good but seemed overpriced. All 4/5The atmosphere was a big issue. The restaurant was filled with smelly, greasy smoke that stuck to our clothes for days afterwards. The smell made me want to leave as soon as possible so we skipped desert. The service was pushy. We were advised to order 5-6 plates to share, but we only wanted three. This seemed to annoy the waitress. We said if we were still hungry we could always order more. The server said no we couldn't, we had to order it all now because the kitchen was small. We stuck with three (we were satiated and did not leave hungry). Halfway through eating the appetizer the server grabbed the wooden skewers off our plates mid-mouthful, without saying anything. I'm not sure why. I'd rather the wait staff ask before reaching for items on my plate and certainly not while I'm still chewing.Overall slightly disappointing, unfortunately.

casual looking place. food was good but fish pie had boiled eggs in it. disappointed as I have never seen this before, more egg than fish for 40usd. fish in the fish and chips was good, chips were overcooked and lacked flavor. service was nice and attentive and efficient. think its good but probably not worth the hype and how difficult it is to get a reservation.

Every single dish was different and delicious. Rich flavors without being overpowering. Pricy menu but all worth it..even the bread was amazing! It’s a small place so you definitely need a reservation (even to sit at the bar).

I've been here several times and have always had an amazing time but want to specially shout out my solo-dinner experience! Grace was the best guide to the wine list and menu!!! And I loved sitting at the counter. Everyone was lovely and the food was incredible and I loved the super creative and eclectic wine list and extensive Mezcal and Amaro lists. Just such a treat every time I've ever been for dinner!

A Disappointing Experience at Dame From the moment of arrival, my experience at Dame was far from what I anticipated. Despite arriving early with excitement, I was met with a less-than-welcoming reception. With a chilly evening outside, I was instructed to wait 30 minutes, even though I could see four vacant tables through the window. Understanding the importance of reservations, I patiently waited, only to witness a later-arriving couple being seated before us, seemingly at the table designated for us despite having specified table seating in my reservation. The dining experience did little to improve from there. The meal commenced on an uneven note; the sourdough bread was satisfactory, and the baked oyster managed to delight, but this was where the culinary success ended. The eel and mushroom dish fell flat, lacking in flavor and execution. The tuna, described as a staple dish, was disappointingly basic and marred by chewy, unappealing pieces. The anticipation for the fish and chips turned to disappointment as the restaurant filled with the smell of burnt batter. The arrival of our dish confirmed our fears: burnt fries and overly salty fish that rendered the dish inedible. Throughout this ordeal, the service was dismissive and unapologetic. My polite feedback about the excessive saltiness of the fish was met with a smirk and a dismissive comment from the waitress, further dampening the evening. The request for a fresh batch of fries added another 15 minutes to our already prolonged wait, leaving a lasting impression not just on our evening but on our clothes, which carried the unwelcome scent of burnt fries home with us. In reflection, the experience at Dame was marred by poor service, disappointing culinary execution, and a lack of empathy from the staff. It's disheartening to write such a review, knowing the challenges of the service industry, but it's important for future patrons to be aware. Regrettably, I cannot foresee a return visit to Dame; the search for exceptional dining experiences will continue elsewhere.

Cute room, nice vibe, pretty good food. Sat at the counter/bar, which was a little cramped. Enjoyed the fish and chips but they're not the best I've ever had, let alone in my Top 5 (I'm from the PNW where fish and chips are kind of a religion). Good cider. Friendly server.
