We were staying in Chinatown and decided to try out Dim Sum VIP for lunch. Everything we ordered was awesome and staff was super friendly. Highly recommend!

I came here before the name change (when it was Dim Sum VIP). I had a great experience here! The staff was extremely friendly and the restaurant felt homey. The dim sum was served right after being freshly made, so everything came out hot! It all tasted delicious. They were popular for their cute custard-filled steamed buns that look like pigs, so we made sure to order that. It was nice to be in this small restaurant and being able to order everything we wanted from a simple checklist sheet. I personally prefer this over the huge crowded dim sum restaurants that require you to wait for carts of food to pass by you. It's also easier to hear whoever you're with because there's less people. Near the end of our meal, the waiter kept giving us small complimentary dishes. He was super sweet to us. I have yet to come visit now that it's under a new name so I'm hoping it'll be just as good!

What better way to celebrate lunar new year then to eat some dim sum in NY chinatown? The establishment is small, but they're pretty efficient and fast. Service was friendly. CRYSTAL SHRIMP DUMPLING I could eat a hundred of these if I could. The dumplings were moist and the shrimp was sweet. PORK AND SHRIMP SIU MAI- wrapped shrimp and pork topped with goji berry This dish was very fresh and meaty. it wasn't light and not too heavy in terms of meatiness and had a great sweetness to it from the shrimp and savoriness from the pork. CHICKEN FEET WITH BLACK BEAN SAUCE This was really good. I liked the sweetness of the black bean sauce with the chicken feet. The texture was on point and the chicken was tender and fatty. SHRIMP RICE ROLL WITH SWEET SOY SAUCE- rice batter steamed and rolled with medium shrimps It was simple dish. Just your typical rice roll with some shrimp inside. BEAN CURD SKIN ROLL- steamed tofu skin rolls filled with pork and shrimp with oyster sauce I liked the slight crisp skin and could've done without the meat on the inside. This was a heavier dish because there was a lot of flavor. The tofu skin would've been good on their own as well without any filling. STEAMED BBQ PORK BUN This was some good pork bun done right. The bun was light and didn't leave that gritty feeling on your teeth and the bbq was sweet and tangy. RED OIL WONTONS- sichuan style wontons in chef's signature spicy chili oil The wonton had a good heat to them from the chili oil. Other then that, it was just your typical wonton, nothing special. CARROT CUSTARD BUN- bun filled with carrot custard This dish was cute, but it served no purpose in the meal for us. The carrot custard didn't sit well with me so I just ate the outer bun part. BLANCH SEASONAL VEGETABLE- seasonal boiled vegetable with oyster sauce I always order boiled or steamed veggies because it makes the whole meal lighter and fresh. The vegetables were just simple vegetables with a side of sweet oyster sauce for dipping. POT STICKER- pan fried dumpling filled with pork and vegetable I didn't like the pot stickers. The flavor was too bland for me. Nothing spectacular and the dumpling itself wasn't good. It was too thick. PAN FRIED TURNIP CAKE- steamed fresh shredded turnip, chinese sausage, and dried shrimps with rice batter, then pan fried This dish was not that great. It was just okay. The consistency needed to be a bit firmer, it was just too chewy and mushy for my liking, but the flavors weren't bad. Not a bad way to start lunar new year. I'll be trying another dim sum place when I come back.

I wasn't in the mood for anything, but saw the little bean paste buns from outside. I decided to go into the small cafe to buy one of these dishes. It comes in a container made of tin with a plastic see-thru lid. I grinned as the three buns sat in the container, pleasantly warm.

Julia is awesome! I was saddened when VIP Dimsum closed but glad Julia continued to run it with the same chef, staff and pretty much the same menu, with a few extra specials on the menu. It's still the same comforting environment, food and service I'm familiar with. Order anything and you won't be disappointed. My favorite include shrimp dumpling, sticky rice on lotus leaf, steamed pork bun, steamed rice rolls and the new steamed rice roll with crunchy bits inside.

A new welcome to the dimsum restaurants in Chiantown. The dimsum is freshly made, hot and served to your table - instead of being carted around. One of my favorite dishes there is their Japanese tofu with mushrooms (vegetarian friendly!) The best part, is Julia herself! Very sweet and personable, extremely accommodating to make sure you have the best experience possible. Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

02/09/2020 I was with a group of my friends walking through China town after the parade. We stopped by a couple places, but everywhere was full and had a long waiting time. We almost walked past this place, but I decided to see how long the wait time was, the hostess(she was lovely) gave me an estimated 20 minutes, and I made my friends aware. We decided to wait to eat, AND I AM SO GLAD WE DID, the food was spectacular. The hostess and the server were so kind and friendly, and told us about the food and the chefs. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. My friends and I are still talking about how good the food is a week later. I highly recommend this restaurant to eat. The atmosphere is great, service is spectacular and the food tastes fresh and home made. I will definitely visit this place again in the future.

DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO SCAM YOU AND CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD WEEKS AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN THERE. I made the mistake of coming here on Xmas day and not only did their food taste horrible, they forgot multiple times in our to go order that took forever. 2 weeks later, I get a rogue $5 charge on my credit card. Now I have to wait for it to post before I can have it disputed. Horrible DO. NOT GO HERE

nice place!! Some of the best Shumai I've ever had. Service was slow but friendly. Long lines for the restroom but they are clean and the line moves fast.

PRO: -Taste: Shrimp dim sums were especially good. They were plump and full of taste. -Price: Not too expensive. -No cart ladies!! I know that's part of having dim sum, but I really liked the fact that they were made to order and we didn't have the pressure to grab the ladies' attention to get what we want. -Picture menus!! You don't need to memorize the names or know Chinese to order what you want. CON: -Pork buns were a little too sweet. The BBQ sauce tasted almost like a dessert dish.
