El Tepeyac Taqueria 97 St

I would have given them 5/5 because the food and service is good. My only suggestion is that during Taco Tuesdays you can’t mix and match the buy 2 get 1 free. They have 3 options which are Grilled Chicken, Pork Carnitas, and Vegetarian. You have to get the same tacos so if you have to order 2 pork carnitas and you’ll get 1 pork carnitas for free. I understand that the promotion is only for the 3 options but they should really be able to mix and match even if it’s only those two options. And maybe still do the promotion and have an additional fee for the higher priced tacos.

Delicious, hole-in-the-wall type Mexican restaurant on the border of UES and Spanish Harlem. Vegetarian AND vegan items labeled clearly. Good selection of foods. The tamal and burrito were fresh and hot. The guac and chips were also fresh. The salsa that came with the tamal as well as the salsa verde with the burrito were great with just the right amount of spice. Although the restaurant is a bit unassuming, the food it delivers is amazing. Definitely a hidden gem and deserve more attention.

So so yummy and great portions for price! I also have a gluten allergy and they were super accommodating taking my order - tacos are delicious and beautifully put together. Can’t wait to go back for more :)

It's right next to taco bell but no wonder no one goes to Lexington and 97th for taco bell, they go for El Tepeyac Taqueria! Best Mexican restaurant, highly affordable good price, good value, great taste and overall 5 stars. So much better than taco bell.

The tacos and quesadillas were out of this world !!! Great taste great ambience! Definitely recommend!!! The workers are amazing !

Best burrito I’ve had in NYC! I got the Tepeyac Burrito with steak and it was a 10/10. Perfect combination of flavors and the steak was great quality. Will be back to try the rest of the menu.

I just left the restaurant. When I got home, part of my order is missing . I called them to see if they can have somebody deliver and I’ll meet them downstairs because I have meeting in 10 min. The guy on the phone said no, he needs to get a manager, the manager is not available, they can’t reach him. Huge deal for their mistake. They forgot part of my order and didn’t even try to make it right. Not even an apology. I tried calling them back they blocked my number. The steak tacos were dry and gross. Never going back they can shove the food where the sun don’t shine. Things are expensive, why do they expect me to give them free money for something I didn’t receive. It’s ridiculous. They are incompetent & inconsiderate. Don’t go there . They suck.

Shocked they had Peruvian food. I ordered arroz chaufa and it was good. A lil pricey but amazing service! Horchata was delish too.

I ordered delivery through Uber Eats, and the restaurant delivered my food to someone else. Uber Eats showed that my order was dropped off, but a neighbor down the street called to say they received it by mistake. I contacted Uber Eats, but since the restaurant uses its own delivery drivers, they said they couldn’t help because the restaurant claimed the order was delivered and provided a photo as proof.

I then called the restaurant, explained the situation, and they asked, “What do you want me to do about it?” I told them it was a $50+ order, so I either wanted my food or a refund. They insisted the order was delivered, but I offered to have the neighbor contact them or to send me the delivery photo as proof. Instead, the person told me they’d notify Uber Eats that I hadn’t received my order.

After three more calls and 45 minutes of back-and-forth, I finally got Uber Eats to reach out to the restaurant again, but they continued to claim the order was delivered. Mistakes happen, and I understand frustrations can arise, but refusing to help a paying customer is unacceptable. Either provide proof of delivery or issue a refund. Eventually, Uber Eats gave me a refund after an hour and a half on the phone, but it was a frustrating experience with no food in the end. I hope future customers are treated better.

Will never order from this place again. Absolutely disgusting ordered barria tacos and found slum of fat in both orders and bones nearly vomited of discuss.. Manger did apologize and gave me chicken tacos but after my Appetite got ruined I couldn't eat it. Read some reviews and a lot of them are about the barria tacos. HIGHLY TO DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE..

Friendly folk, good atmosphere.
Got some tacos and the steak, onions and cilantro were tasty but soft taco fell completely apart. Never skimp on quality, quality is how you get reoccurring customers!
