Cozy nice place with reasonably prices. Situated near the very buzy Manhattan bridge area; still like a tranquille haven. Co-insidentally on the same street, where Velvet Underground recorded their first demos.

I am Mexican and I hadn't eaten something good typical of Mexico for a long time, until I found this place!!!

café de olla is delicious. They run out of it often but it's $2 so I can't complain!

Awww, man love this place. The Tamal (Verde) that I have tried. So good, that is what keeps me coming back, and the hospitality of Jose. He makes me feel so welcome and relaxed. This place is a small little spot on a quiet street, so you might miss it if your not paying attention. I definitely recommend you go to them they also have another location on 4th street, between 3rd & 2nd Avenue. Ohh, I forgot to mention that I also tried there Cuban sandwich. It's not the typical Cuban sandwich, but it is good. I am sorry that this time I didn't take any pictures.

The magic is the lovingly hand ground authentic masa for the tamales.. and that chicken tinga soup.. Lordy.. another menu staple worth the trip over whatever other neighborhood you have to trek from. And across the street just a block over is Metrograph Movie theater where they're always showing something cool, seats are comfortable, and decor design is cool. Great affordable real nyc places ideal for a friend date, date date or solo adventurer.

Small spot on the Lower East Side. We ordered Salad, a Sandwich & a Tamale. Food came out pretty quickly. Fresh and tasty. It's a little pricey for the portions, but that's NYC. It's worth the trip if you're in the area.

The Chipotle Chicken Tamale is good and spicy. The Bacon and Mozzarella Tamale was different but good.

I loved this spot stop coming after they made the tamales $5 each. It’s still a wonderful spot and the owner is very nice. Just don’t come as often.

Just came back to this place after a while—I always forget how good it is! The Tinga Torta is not to be missed—at $13 it is big enough to be shared with another person and is so flavorful. It’s also nice that they take card, as so many spots in this neighborhood are cash only. The sandwich might take 15-20 min to come out, but it is definitely worth the wait, especially if you can sit outside in the sun :)

Really enjoyed their tortas (the torta de tinga and the torta de longaniza). Those are the only ones l've tried from their menu, but it has been consistently good for the handful of times l've gone. You can tell when you bite into the torta that they have quality ingredients. It's really soft to bite into. I also especially like the added kick of pickled jalapenos in the torta de tinga.

Best Mexican tamales!!! Their egg sandwich is beyond delicious, I could have 100 of those!
