Hangawi Reviews
Our server was amazing; the hostess was a bit rude. At first, she would not see us because our full party had not arrived. Eventually, she did once I indicated that we would like to order drinks or we would go somewhere else and get a later reservation there.
The food was marginal at best

Hangawi is a Korean restaurant near Murray Hill, recognized with a Michelin Star in 2023. They offer exceptional vegetarian and vegan options, such as their Bibimbap and dumplings. The atmosphere is calm, peaceful, and welcoming, creating a serene space that feels like eating in Korea. The experience begins with removing shoes and settling into traditional seating on mats with a footwell, adding to the authentic ambiance. The food is beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and thoughtfully presented, with dishes feeling clean, balanced, and comforting. Standout dishes include the Bulgogi and Bibimbap, making for a memorable dining experience. The restaurant also features a separate menu for “No Onion, Garlic and Scallions” and a great Korean wine selection. Attentive staff contribute to a relaxing and mindful atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for those who enjoy delicious, tranquil dining. Most of the seating is traditional, and the food offers a wide array of flavors, with adjustable spice levels. Highly recommended dishes include the vermicelli, Korean pancakes, spicy tofu soup, creamy tofu dish, black sesame cake, bibimbap (stone bowl rice), spicy rice cakes, acorn noodle salad, veg dumplings, kimchi dolsot bibimbap, and kimbap.
