This sounds so cheesy, but I actually do feel like my life was changed by Janie's. I've always been a big cookie person, but Janie's cookies are 1) delicious, 2) unique, and 3) fairly priced. The bakery itself is fairly low frills -- there's a display case up front with all the different cookies and the person manning the counter was super helpful / provided recs. That said, there's nowhere to sit, so be prepared to grab and go. In my opinion, though, the quality of desserts more than makes up for this. My partner and I got the pie crust cookies, which have a sweet crumbled pie crust on top and a slightly saltier, flakier bottom. The center is absolutely stuffed with flavor (I got the chocolate, which was amazing), and I thought the $3 price tag was more than fair, even though the cookies were a bit smaller. TLDR: the cookies here are SO good and I will definitely be back for more.

Cute little shop in UWS. Have to say it was a little overrated/ overhyped. The cookies were a bit overpriced for how small they are, and I think there's definitely better cookies in the UWS (I know levain is also overhyped but it definitely deserves some of the hype). Maybe smaller cookies aren't my vibe but I wasn't super impressed by this place. That being said the red velvet and toffee were good. I wouldn't go out of my way for this but if I were in the area would stop by :)

Vibe: 5/10 - very narrow and tight - no seating Service: 6/10 Value: 5/10 - cookies are small for the price, but they're very delicious and refreshing! Apple pie crust cookie: 8/10 Triple Berry pie crust cookie: 9/10 Chocolate chip cookies: 8.5/10 Overall: 6.92/10 (3.46/5) [To clarify our review system: 10 = we'll never have anything else as good as this in our lives (we use 10 very sparingly!) 9 = extraordinary 8 = great 7 = above average 6 = average Anything below 6 is being critical]

Very good! The order ahead pick up process was easy, however they lost a star due to the very awkward experience at the uptown store. I patiently waited outside for a little since the shop is very tiny and didn't want to overwhelm customers who were paying and on their way out. When I got inside, I was NOT greeted. I actually said "hi!" And the girl behind the counter stood there at cash register while the other girl was explaining all the baked confections to another couple. Then suddenly a woman came in and cut the entire line asking when cookies would be out of oven. It was so rude. The girl behind counter looked at me and I asked how can I grab my pre-paid order.. in which she first responded to the rude customer 1st that she would need to wait 10-15min. This turned me off completely. I would have tried other items but felt so unwelcome. We grabbed the 2 cookie croissants order and left. (Hi Janie.. if you are reading this.. please remind your team to be mindful of the customer experience. You're going to lose business when your staff allow rude customers to dictate the flow)

Delicious -- sampled a bunch of the pie crust cookies. Favorite was the apple; least favorite was the carrot cake. That pie crust -- such a genius idea, and perfectly executed. Also ate a s'mores cookie. Loved the marshmallow on top. Was tempted to try one of the cookie dough croissants -- there were still a few left at 2pm on a Saturday, surprisingly. (They looked a bit over the top.... Says the woman who just ate a bunch of other cookies instead)

This tiny little shop that you can easily walk by without noticing. It's not on street level as you have to walk down a few steps to enter. There are so many different varieties to choose from which are not your typical cookies. The pie crust cookies have fillings on the inside packed with soooo much goodness!! I had to buy a bunch to try. Guava and cream cheese, Chocolate expresso pecan, cranberry apple ginger, triple berry just to name a few.. all these were really good. I even bought some of the cookies which are pretty big, soft and chewy. Smores and chocolate chip, can't go wrong with those.

Her cookies are so delicious and the prices are pretty reasonable considering it’s in Manhattan. I look forward to coming back. My favorite was the toffee, carrot cake, and chocolate chip cookies. So delicious and not too sweet. I definitely recommend stopping by.

Known Janie's since I found then with a cart in a mall which now houses the time out market near the Brooklyn bridge. Immediately wanted to find more of those pie crust cookies.. mail ordered and sent gifts during the pandemic, and, so glad to get them in person again including the new Crookie, a croissant Blended with chocolate chip cookie!

Wasn’t a huge fan of the pie crust cookie, especially after all the hype, HOWEVER, their cookie pie with Nutella was one of the best things I’ve had. Really wish they served milk here because that would have made this so much better.Parking: Paid street parking only.Kid-friendliness: Not a lot of seating there, but kids would be welcome.

I’ve heard recently about this cute bakery in the UWS. A much needed visit was in the works. It’s small bakery, nestled in a residential area. The display of goodies had so much to offer! I decided on the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Croissant. Oh my!!! This dessert is just intense in a good way. Flaky goodness wrapped in chocolate chips and cookie dough (plus lightly heated from home) is just heavenly! If you’re in the area please pay them a visit and you won’t be disappointed!

Life changing? You bet! This upper west side bakery sure knows how to create the perfect cookie! Service was fantastic! Despite the long line everyone was friendly and patient with a 6 year old set on saying her order herself! Tiny spot, but the smell of cookies oozes out into the street calling you in! Highly recommend as a treat anytime of day!

The name of this place is a lot to live up to, but I can honestly say that I am still thinking about these cookies a week later. I have had my eye zeroed IN on those pie crust cookies for awhile now and I finally found myself in the area. First off, have to shout out the fact that they're open until 11pm.... like Janie's just GETS the late night cookie craving. My family and I tried one of each of the pie crust cookie flavors they had available when I was there. I don't even know if I could possibly remember them all, but the standouts for me were definitely the carrot cake, sweet potato, and apple pie. The others were also great, but I will say I wish some of them had more of their flavor than they did. The reason why I took off a star is because these cookies are really small to be $3 each. They feel extremely bite sized, and even though I understand that they're special and there's likely more time and effort that go into each cookie, it's just hard to justify the price with the size as a customer. These are definitely great, though, and I'd encourage any cookie lovers to give them a try at least once!
