Got the Hong Kong style egg tarts (shortbread tart shell) and bubur cha cha. I’m very partial to the former and they are hard to find in Chinatown, and I thoroughly enjoyed them (reheated in an air fryer). The bubur cha cha was unbeatable value and no less tasty than similar desserts offered by places like Meet Fresh.EDIT: I got to try the Hong Kong style egg tart and Portuguese egg tart side by side, and while they were decidedly different, I don’t know which one I liked...
Stayed at a hotel that doesn't serve breakfast. Sirens and traffic were loud at 6:30 am, so I got up early and walked to this bakery. It was full at 8 am. I chose the egg custard, butter cake and plain croissant. All were buttery and tasty. The custard was soft and creamy and the crust was a little flaky. It was VERY good. The butter cake looked beautiful, but was a little dry and boring. The croissant was soft and almost gooey in parts inside (maybe slightly undercooked),...
Absolutely gorgeous. I loveee their cakes. Especially the superb egg tarts. The sponge cakes were soft and not too sweet. The cakes in other places were either to harsh or too sweet but this one is well balanced and soft. I put it in the fridge for 2 days but when the cakes cool down it is as soft as fresh. Rarely gave anyone 5 star but i must say this is my favourite bakery shop in nyc. And the price is super reasonable too. A must!
