What happened to this place? The wine selection was eclectic and filled with surprises from around the Adriatic region but the food was rather disappointing. Additionally, the space was cramped and extremely hot with awkwardly small bathrooms. I wouldn't recommend this for a dinner with friends but maybe a wine date.

Came here on Friday night for restaurant week with 3 friends. We made a reservation for 9 PM however had to wait about 30 mins for our table to be ready. The hosts/staff were very apologetic and also provided complimentary orange wine for the inconvenience so it was handled well. The apps were delicious! They were served family style and included focaccia, smoked carrots, and fried artichoke. The focaccia was served with a garlic butter that was incredible! For our main we all got the lobster quadratini which was so so so good. One of the best pasta dishes I've had anywhere, especially with lobster! For dessert we all got chocolate gelato. Cocktail wise, my friends got the Tinky Winky which has a nice sweetness to it! I got the Haitian Highball and it ended up being a bit dull. It took me a little while to get someone's attention to get it switched - I wish our waitress had checked in sooner, in the beginning of the night she was really attentive. But they did eventually switch my drink for me to the Tinky Winky and not charge me for either drink which was greatly appreciated. The vibe is cozy and intimate, homey chic. Will def return!

Came here with my college friend for restaurant week Summer 2022. Our waitress offered us both the restaurant week menu and their regular menu if wanted to get anything else but we both opted for the restaurant week menu. The menu offered all three appetizers (served family style), one entrée, and a small dessert for $45 pp. The restaurant itself is very small and cramped. We chose to seat inside hoping it would be cool but it wasn't that much cooler than outside but also it was fairly dim inside (they have outdoor seating which definitely provides you with more space and lighting). For our appetizers we got: Focaccia (Garlic Butter), Hay Smoked Carrots (Harissa, Garlic, Black Eyed Peas), and Fried Artichokes (Crispy Artichoke Hearts, Sour Cherry Chili Sauce) all to share. The appetizers were delicious mostly except for the black eyed peas that were lacking in flavor. For our entrees my friend got the Creste de Gallo pasta (Roasted Red Pepper Pomodoro, Dry Roasted Tomatoes, Paprika, Pickled Garlic, Grana Padano) and I got the Crispy Chicken (Adjika Polenta, Grilled Swiss Chard & Cherry Tomato, Preserved Lemon, Brown Butter, Pink Peppercorn Jus) for an additional $5. We both loved our entrées, I think I especially loved mine it was so delicious. The polenta was on the spicy side which for me was a very pleasant surprise! I think for what it's worth, the restaurant week deal was a good reason to stop by. But I don't know if I would come back otherwise--the atmosphere for me is what knocked down one of the stars.

I really had high hopes coming here. It was on my list to try for a while. Unfortunately I was beyond disappointed. The wine by the glass was extremely limited. I asked to sample and they only had one bottle of full bodied wine to try. But the real disappointment for us was the food. Every single dish was drenched in sauce that was so heavy and bizarre tasting we had to stop eating. The calamari appetizer was drowning in a dark spicy sauce. We had to dig through the toasted croutons and sauce to find it. There were maybe five little pieces of calamari and tons of toasted croutons swimming in sauce. We also couldn't finish our pastas. Very odd flavors. I ordered the pasta with red pepper sauce. It too was swimming in tons of sauce so heavy of red pepper, hours later and I can still taste that bitterness in my mouth. I am honestly shocked from this food experience. I have a feeling this isnt the first time the staff encountered unhappy customers as they did not seem surprised when we left the dishes practically untouched. At least they were nice enough to not charge us for the calamari and one of the pastas. For that reason alone, I give this a two star experience, otherwise I couldn't justify more than one. Hopefully I won't get sick with food poisoning like one reviewer said they did.

This is one of the best spots in Manhattan. Amazing and artfully prepared food in a fascinating environment. What more could you want?

My BFF went to celebrate my BD. Food was good, had 2 apps and 2 pastas. Wine also good. We shared everything. BUT, several hours later, both of us got violently ill. Will spare the details. Notified the manager, wanted us to come back (not complimentary) Why would we. Avoid this place!!! Would have given no stars but had to select something.

Great and versatile neighborhood spot- can pop in for a drink after after work or can sit down for 4 courses and get remarkable service either way. The bar staff knows the menu so well, and can point u in the right direction. Personal favorites are the grilled octopus, the lobster quadratini, and the Krafne for dessert, and whatever amaro the bar staff recommends.

I was able to get a last minute reservation here on a weekend trip to NYC. And wow! I should have know from the great reviews, but Kindred really blew it out of the water. I had the tasting/prefix menu with the wine pairing. Every course tasted incredible, was the right size, and flowed seamlessly into the next. I think about my meal here way too often, counting down the days until I can go back.

Not a good time. I went here for a special occasion and Kindred did not impress. The appetizer was mediocre, the gnocchi portions were smaller and of worse quality than frozen Trader Joe's meals, and the dessert had absolutely no flavor. In addition to this, the atmosphere was cramped and incredibly expensive. Do yourself a favor and go to a traditional Italian diner or a more established upscale cuisine option

Came here to meet a friend for happy hour on a Friday night & lucked out (thanks unpredictable weather) to have gotten a spot right at the bar. We had a few of their rum based drinks, which looks dainty size wise but are potent. We also had their artichokes (oooh so scrumptious) & lobster ravioli that just had the best sauce + kick. Planning on coming back here for the calamansi + Johnny walker frozen cocktail & calamansi ice cream. Shout out to Savannah & Honey at the bar who were super attentive & friendly.

Really bad dining experience. The burek came out cold and was sitting in a pile of salsa so it was very soggy. Fried artichokes we’re ok but also came out cold and definitely not worth $15. Pasta was blehhhh nothing special at all. For dessert we got the fried doughnuts with lemon sauce and the inside of the donuts were completely raw and oozing out batter. Service was ok - the food took a very long time to come out after the appetizers. Only good thing was that the server comped our undercooked donuts. Very overpriced and I would not recommend at all.

Pasta was blehhhh nothing special at all. I'd rather go to Forsythia or Misi for this type of pasta. OH and at 8:30pm they had completely run out of all their specials. Very overpriced and I would not recommend at all.

1st off, I thought it was odd that their is no phone number for this restaurant. I wanted to move my reservation up 30 minutes and that was not possible. Tasty food but the smallest portions were so small. I finished my entire meal in 2 minutes and I was not eating fast. Going to be at least $75/person if you dine here FYI. Also, the waitress was not nice to our table. We asked what she recommended and she said "you're asking the wrong person. I work here." and smirked. And we then asked if they had wine and what options to which she replied "we are a wine bar, of course we have wine." Also, happy hour is a 4 OZ half price cocktail instead of an 8oz regular price.

$25 for overcooked bland pasta, and tomato sauce that tastes the same as Trader Joe's? Also $16 cocktails that are SO SALTY I thought they mixed up the simple syrup for salt? I thought it was just me but my girlfriend immediately said the same thing before I did after our first sip. The food looked good but ridiculously salty (to make up for the lack of flavor?) honestly it's probably better to spend my money making the same thing and I'm a pretty average cook. Also nobody waited on us? we had to ask for one after 15 mins (they forgot) and they were kinda snippy the whole time? Sucky valentines date...I wanted to like here so bad but like, what's up with high scores? Am I missing out, I was very nice and excited the whole time? but it's sad to say the wine was the only good thing about the meal. Which was nice but like it's bottled soooooooo

Pasta dishes are great. Protein entrees are good. Prices are a little high. Cocktails aren't impressive. But overall great. Avoid eating at the bar, their bar stools suck, they have protuting wood ring that cuts of blood circulation in your legs. Truly dumbfounding how they choose these.
