Le Charlot Reviews
My friend ask me to meet him here and I drove in from NJ. Le Charlot by far is probably the best restaurant I've eaten. I had the filet of sole and when I bit into it I felt like I had gone to food heaven. The roasted veggies were to die for. I'm going to ask him to take me again. Best parking is on E 70th and Madison. $25 for 2 hours.
Ordered mussels and fries. I was told I can’t take home my leftover mussels. Host was rude, told me “ too bad” and offered me chocolate mousse after I said I was full which was why I wanted to take home my leftovers. Then he was annoyed that I was full. He was also annoyed when I asked why no one mentioned that this was their policy, and why it’s not printed on the menu. Please stay away. There are many good restaurants in Southampton with far superior service.
Don't believe the hype here. I always give restaurants a 2nd chance. With this place, the second chance was actually worse then my first experience. Le Charlot is a cozy French restaurant with a lively atmosphere, particularly at lunch. The menu offers classic French dishes such as French onion soup, Belgium endives, and Moules à la Thai, which guests generally find satisfying. While the prices may be a bit high, the food is comparable to similar establishments in the area. However, the service can be inconsistent, with some visitors reporting poor attentiveness from the staff.
The restaurant is known for its great French bistro vibes, which customers can enjoy by dining outside. The service is often praised as very good, but the food quality has received mixed reviews. Some customers have found the dishes mediocre or even bad, while others have described the food as solid and satisfying, particularly the steak au poivre, endive salad, and lobster salad.
Despite the occasional inconsistencies, Le Charlot remains a neighborhood gem, offering a cozy and unpretentious atmosphere, reasonable prices, and a warm, welcoming staff. The location, just a short walk from Central Park and the Met, also adds to the appeal of this casual French bistro.
