12/18: The waiter and food were good, but the host at the front had an attitude. Before seating me, she asked when my friend would arrive, and I told her about 5 minutes. After I was seated, 5 minutes passed, and she came up to scold me, asking when my friend would arrive because there were other reservations after us. My friend arrived about 5 minutes later, making it a total of 10 minutes. We ordered immediately after my friend sat down, assuming there was a rush.
Long story short, we finished our meal and asked the waiter if we needed to leave by a certain time. The waiter assured us that we were good for the night. We ended up staying much longer than expected, from 7:15 to 9:15 pm. By the time we were finishing (around 8:15 pm), the restaurant had already emptied out. I understand seating protocols, but I felt singled out by the hostess, which left a very bad taste. It was my first time there, and I’ll probably avoid returning, as I felt unwelcomed.

The maître d was an angel. I walked in during a particularly busy evening and he patiently ensured I was able to get a seat at the bar. Ordered a signature grab dish and a green tea - chatted up with my neighbors on both sides (solo dining has its perks) and enjoyed the freshest, cleanest ingredients I’ve had in a long time. 10/10 recommend!!

I was in NYC last week! This place blew my mind! It was that good! I think what makes this place unique is their grab roll! Fish quality is great , the nori is superb! I got their set menu and end up ordering more!

Taste, atmosphere, customer service I got the impression that something was superfluous and something was missing.
Amazingly fresh fish, carefully crafted. We've been here twice and every time the experience is pleasant. The waitress also gives recommendations on the order, which I appreciated (while some others may not like it). I feel it's hard to go wrong at this place. The tofu and the dessert didn't impress though.

Maki Kosaka, created by the Michelin-Starred Omakase restaurant KOSAKA, truly delivered an exceptional dining experience. Our arrival started a bit rocky as the host barely acknowledged us and seemed annoyed that we arrived a few minutes early for our reservation. However, once we were seated, the atmosphere quickly made up for it. We appreciated the spacious seating, a refreshing change from the usual cramped omakase setups where you're often squeezed in between other patrons.
From the moment our server greeted us, the service was impeccable. We ordered two grab handroll sets, a cut roll set K, and the sashimi platter (no judgment – we were starving!). The bottle of sake we selected paired beautifully with our meal. Before the sushi arrived, everything we needed was already at the table: seaweed wraps, soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi, making the experience seamless. Each roll and dish was beautifully presented and of the highest quality – we were impressed by every bite!
What really stood out is that Maki Kosaka offers both omakase and sushi roll options, which many other omakase spots don’t. This flexibility made it even more enjoyable. We've already told our friends to add this spot to their list, and we’ll definitely be back!
