We chose Stella because of convenient location. Steps off Herald Sq subway, close to Penn Station and midtown offices. Worked well for friends coming from Brooklyn and those of us headed uptown. Was surprised how good it was. We had a selection of foods that were all excellent Such as eggplant parm, butternut squash soup, shrimp oreganata for appetizer. There were two bread selections that were fresh. The chef has a heavy hand with garlic especially with the flat bread and shrimp....
We had excellent service and the recommendations by the waiter was on point. The lasagna bolognese was the best meal I had in manhattan. We had the perfect view of the Empire State building as well.
The food was excellent, our server, Will, was friendly, professional and attentive, and the view (even on a very cloudy day) was spectacular. Pizzas here are excellent as are the salads. And leave room for the gelati, which are among the best in the city
