About Spicy Village

Spicy Village is a cozy restaurant that serves a variety of Chinese dishes, particularly focusing on Henan-style cuisine. The menu features items like mutton soup, Roujiamo, winter melon tea, and spicy big tray chicken made with natural spices. Customers can enjoy highlights such as the spicy chicken plate, curry, and hand-pulled noodles, known for their fresh, homemade, broad, wheat texture. The restaurant also offers vegetarian options like steamed vegetarian dumplings and poke dumplings. Many reviews mention that the portions are generous and the prices are affordable, making it a delightful spot for lunch or dinner.

This hidden gem, a true hole-in-the-wall, has limited seating and a faded sign, but its fast service and cash-only policy keep people coming back. The #30 Egg and Tomato Hui Mei is considered pure comfort food. The scallion sauce veg dumplings are noted for their amazing, authentic flavor, and the chili oil is a must-try, adding a flavorful kick to the dishes. The hand-pulled noodles are often highlighted for their great texture, served with well-seasoned lamb, bok choy, and a hint of freshness from cilantro.

Customers have enjoyed their experiences, with many noting the friendly service and the homey atmosphere. The restaurant is clean and well-lit, with a dining area that feels intimate. The spicy vegetable Huimei noodles are particularly praised for their delicious flavor, although some suggest the sauce could be thicker. Overall, Spicy Village is a great spot to try traditional flavors in Chinatown, offering a wonderful culinary experience at reasonable prices.

Spicy Village was a wonderful place to have a Christmas meal! Actually, I'd like to rename it "Spicy Cozy Village" if a spicy environment can also be cozy! To start with, they were very gracious by accepting a reservation for 8 people at 6:00. Then they came outside and took our order even before we sat down and so the food was nearly ready by the time we had taken our coats off! The festivities kicked off with a plate of crispy peanuts, which ended up being the chosen appetizer, main course, and dessert for the little guy in our party. We then progressed to delicious dumplings, sesame chicken, spicy lamb huimei, and other delectable specialties! What was so amazing about the experience is that despite packing lots of people into a relatively small square foot area, it did not feel claustrophobic at all; rather it was comfortable and cozy, like sitting at a big table for a family meal at your house (even if it was take-out!!).

Overall, Spicy Village was a terrific place for Christmas dinner - and I'm strongly considering coming back here for the 8 days of Hanukkah too!
