We spent 90 minutes on the waitlist while our reserved table morphed into a post-dinner hangout for diners who’d already wrapped up their meal. Apparently, the staff would rather tiptoe around confrontation than politely ask them to leave. Meanwhile, our party of 8 waited outside in the cold, completely forgotten, as if we were mere extras in their farcical hospitality saga. No text, no heads-up—just a masterclass in non-communication. If you love being sidelined while your table doubles as a cozy lounge for lingering loiterers, then congratulations, you’ve found your new favorite spot.

I was quite disappointed after waiting 90 minutes for my reserved table, only to find it occupied by diners who’d already finished their meal. Rather than politely asking them to leave, the staff seemed determined to avoid any confrontation, leaving our party of 8 waiting outside without a single update. This experience clearly highlights a lack of clear communication and respect for reservations. If you value timely and attentive service, you might want to consider other options.

A small, low lit restaurant, the service was wonderful. The servers were kind, asking if it was my first time there, making sure that I had no food allergy and helping with the menu. The food was good, no complaints on the taste it's just nothing made me go "Wow I want to have that again ".

Placed online order. Was delayed despite telling diners if you did not pick up within 15 minutes, you would have to wait. I was there within the time period and had to wait for ~ ten minutes. No coordination between front and back service stations along with disconnect with online ordering. Could not find my order until it suddenly appeared under the front desk. After being dismissed/ignored by front of line staff and waiting. Manager Ariana came out outside to apologize. I was grateful and she was great. For a “premium” sushi place, the experience was sub par.

Excellent Sushi Chain. Better than most places I've experienced around the country. I used to frequent the Sugar Fish in Manhattan Beach and Marina Del Rey. I thought they were better. The rice wasn't quite sticky enough on the nigiri tonight. The sea bass and yellow tail sashimi was fresh and good. Over all great sushi at a fair price. Got the trust me.

The food was amazing, but we had an annoying, pushy server with an infuriating theatrical voice (sorry). Made everything worse.

I placed a pickup order. When I arrived, they told me they gave my order to someone else. They had me wait another 15-20 minutes while they re-made my order without offering a comp or anything. A small discount on my next order or literally anything complimentary would’ve been nice given the circumstances. Pretty disappointing.

Good but during peak time becomes like
A factory handing out preset menu items and feels rushed or hectic. One person at

Kinda too expensive. I Prefer omakase at a bar watching chef assemble. Sushi taste good and fresh though. Server was nice.

Unapologetically pure Japanese. Trust the waiter recommendations and you'll be in heaven. No notes.

This is my favorite spot for sushi in NYC! I've been there more than ten times, and every visit is consistently delicious. The wait for a table can be long, but it's definitely worth it. Their specials are tasty as well!

ARI IS THE BEST.
I can't say enough about the amazing experience I had at Sugarfish NYC! Not only was the food incredible (seriously, every bite was perfection), but our server, Ari, made the night unforgettable. From the moment we sat down, she was so warm, kind, and conversational. It felt like she was genuinely excited to guide us through the menu and ensure we had the best time possible.
Ari’s energy and passion for what she does really shine through, and her attention to detail is unmatched. She made the whole experience feel special. Honestly, she's the kind of server that makes you want to come back, just to have her take care of you again. She is fantastic—can't recommend her enough!
If you're going to Sugarfish, ask for Ari—you won’t regret it!
