The Argyle is a sensational new cocktail lounge tucked beneath the Markette restaurant in Chelsea. The space is beautiful, warm, and transportive, with a spacious downstairs layout, unique glassware, and comfortable seating. The vibe strikes a perfect balance, feeling upscale yet incredibly inviting, with excellent music; it is the kind of spot where you end up staying longer than planned.
The cocktail program is playful, thoughtful, and excellent. The bar director delivers incredible drinks with clear effort, love, and care. Standout cocktails include the delicate and mysterious Emerald City, the fruity candy-flavored Pinky Swear, the orangey and delicious Sodo Mojo, the slightly spicy Martini Tropical, and the incredible PB&J Sazerac with its amazing mouthfeel. Other highlights are the Creamsicle Fizz, the Champs-Élysées, the Vieux carre, and a tequila-based Espresso Martini. The Do U Believe and Paloma are also noted as great.
The food goes beyond expectations, featuring Caribbean-influenced small plates and elevated sandwiches that are deeply satisfying and expressive. Must-orders include the Wellfleet oysters, the fried fish sandwich, and fries. The straciatella ice cream also looks fantastic. Service is consistently described as above and beyond, with incredibly nice, welcoming, and attentive staff who provide exceptional hospitality. The Argyle is a killer addition to the scene, equally suited for drinks or a small dinner event.
