Highly recommend the steak and dinner rolls. Beautiful restaurant off the beaten path in the West Village. Perfect for date night or to catch up with old friends.

It feels like stepping into an old pub (intended). It has a warm vibe and friendly staff. The Black Duck Porter was an excellent beer. They have a small but focused cocktail menu, the drinks were spot on. The food was delicious – the fried oysters and pickled oysters specifically for starters. On veg, I highly recommend the buttermilk & squash special (if it's there) as they were fantastic. The bone marrow was rich and delicious, but the real star was the fluke – really delicate and flavorful. Lastly, the beans were memorable, with a hint of molasses sweetness (I think). Definitely will be back. ? Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly.

Nestled on a quaint street in Greenwich Village, this restaurant was our favorite of the week. We shared delicious dishes like Rarebit, Carrots, Spoon bread and Brussel sprouts. The roast chicken was amazing! The atmosphere is warm and charming, like you've stepped back in time. While very busy on a Saturday night, it was easy to talk and relax at our table. Can't wait to go back!

There’s a reason this patty melt made it into the recent NYT article on the dish! Lovely spot for a cozy meal on a cold winter’s day.

On the menu is bone marrow on thick, rustic bread heaped with chicken-of-the-woods mushrooms, and jugged rabbit with shallots. The hearty, offbeat food may not be for everyone, but it’s certainly an original.

Great food and atmosphere. Server pre-selected 22% tip though. Sneaky and entitled move.

An absolute fave. And a special and historical spot going back to Grange Hall days. The food is heavy on deliciously prepared vegetables, like the buttermilk dressing salad (that I could eat everyday). The potted shrimp and kippered trout are delicious. As is the half chicken.

Down to the precise location, the Commerce Inn is West Village perfection. The concept is fringy and (hopefully) off-putting to some, but as the son of someone who actually grew up eating some iteration of these dishes, I could appreciate the Commerce Inn deeply. I enjoyed the spoon bread, beef, and beans. However, it's quite difficult to explain to my father why I can't get a reservation before 10pm.

Relaxing spot for brunch. The pancakes were fantastic. The goat cheese omelette was also great. One weird thing is that the bathrooms are see through so if you’re waiting you can literally see what the person inside is doing (you can see their underwear etc). Likewise, if you’re inside doing your business people could be watching you. It’s very bizarre.

Just discovered this place - and it is already on the favorites list. Loved the concept of reclaiming traditional dishes/local fare minus all the stodginess of a pub. This was my perfect winter meal - best roast chicken I’ve had in NY, plenty of vegetables you don’t often see (chicory!) and ginger bread for dessert. Whatever you do, get the milk punch cocktail, it will blow your mind.
