We went for restaurant week just before a concert at Carnegie Hall. Even for Restaurant Week it was an amazing deal, and everything was really delicious, well executed, great ingredients, nice portions (but not too much), great choices on the prefix menu, seasoned perfectly. Service was excellent. Interior is a bit 80s retro, but it's lively and bustling. A+++ all the way around!
As a single diner, the bar is ideal with Victor an excellent bartender, with the feel of a host. I have come here with groups or a two some and it is always a favorite. There is a feel of a neighborhood or locals restaurant. The food is excellent. I had the osso buco over polenta, with a starter of the broccolini and it hit all the notes. I chose the cannoli for dessert and it was especially light and tasty.
This is a big place with some tables better located than others. At busy times it gets noisy and hectic, but we were there during the snow week in NYC which also coincided with Restaurant week which offered $30 lunch and $45 dinner prices with some excellent items on the discounted menu which we did not have to ask for.
