Venchi Chocolate & Gelato Columbus Av

Used to love this place but had 3 terrible experiences with staff in a row and it warrants a 1 star review. We’ve been told by staff (Vincent) to go back in the line after tasting the ice cream and we’re ready to give our order. Apparently according to their policy you must buy the ice cream first and then taste…. That’s not how ice cream works.

I just deleted my 5 star review to give 1 star. I used to love this place but the staff has been getting increasingly rude and unprofessional. After we lined up and tasted some ice cream samples before we ordered, the staff (vincent) asked us to go back in the line because we didn’t pay before we tasted?!? Which is absolutely crazy and makes me think this guy never worked at an ice cream shop before..The products are good but this type of treatment really leaves a sour taste, I won’t be going back.

Venchi Chocolate & Gelato on Columbus Avenue is a must-visit every time we’re in New York City. No matter how many times we come, it’s become a tradition we never skip.

We’ve tried just about every variety of chocolate they offer, along with several of their gelato flavors and their incredible hot chocolates. Everything is made with exceptional quality, rich flavor, and the kind of craftsmanship you’d expect from an authentic Italian chocolatier.

The store is always clean, beautifully displayed, and the staff is friendly, even when it’s busy. Whether you’re looking for a sweet treat, a gift, or simply want to indulge in some of the best chocolate in the city, this is the place.

If you’re walking around the Upper West Side, do yourself a favor and stop at Venchi. Once you try it, chances are it’ll become a tradition for you too.
