Amazing, a gift box of yours to us across the pond in West Sussex, UK. They travel well. Rich flavours, succulent textures, pure pleasure.

The ice cream was one of the best that we have ever had, and the owner was very kind and started small talk that interested you. Had a lot of options of ice cream and shakes. We 10/10 would recommend to everyone.

The Sweet Shop is a local institution! My family loves to gather here and we just had my daughter’s birthday party here! The whole family made it the most special day. Thank you Marlene, John, Danielle and the legendary Pete! Thank you!

This place is the best! They have been here for 90+ years so it's no secret they have great ice cream and chocolate. I go for the burger. Pete is a great guy and he cooks up a great burger.

My daughter & I had lunch at LA PORTA and decided to pop in and get ice cream after. We haven’t been in years and nothing has changed…..which is perfect and the ice cream was delicious!

An Old-Fashioned Gem with Ice Cream Dreams Are Made Of!

The Northport Ice Cream Sweet Shop is pure magic. This charming, old-fashioned ice cream parlor has been a cherished part of our family tradition for years—first with my children, and now with my grandchildren. Every visit brings back sweet memories, and the ice cream? Absolutely beyond compare.

Their homemade flavors are the freshest and most delicious I’ve ever tasted. I still dream about their peach ice cream—it’s a seasonal delight that captures the true flavor of summer in every creamy bite. You can taste the love and care that goes into every batch.

A heartfelt thank you to the hardworking gentleman behind it all—your passion, craftsmanship, and consistency have created more than just a treat... you've built a legacy. Northport is lucky to have you!

This ice cream shop had been in this family for 96 years! The man working behind the counter, hand dipping the ice cream, is a local institution. We spoke to people who have been coming here to get ice cream for the last 25 years... where you do find history like that anymore in this world? ✨️
The ice cream is homemade, as are the sauces. They also make chocolates, soft serve, and sundaes. The inside looks like a 1950s ice cream parlor. Plus, it's right up Main Street from Northport Bay. Prefect way to spend an evening on the north shore.

Visited a fair few eating spots on my holiday from Northern Ireland and the burger and fries here were hard to beat. 👌 Well priced. The man cooking was very friendly and nearly forgot the milkshakes great too.

I don’t like going out of my way to write negative reviews, particularly about small businesses, but I felt I needed to in this instance. I walked into the Sweet Shop/Luncheonette on a cold, weekday afternoon with my wife last week. We had just gotten ice cream across the street at a different establishment, and we decided to look for a quick bite to accompany our ice cream, as we had been running around all morning doing some errands and were quite hungry. We are new to the area and were curious what Northport Village had to offer. We were holding our small cups of ice cream when entering.

When we walked in, we were impressed at the old fashioned diner style of the place and were excited to sit down for some lunch. There was only one other family there besides us. An older gentleman greeted us, and lightheartedly told us we should try their ice cream next time as they serve Hershey’s ice cream. We agreed to this, and my wife and I looked at each other thinking perhaps this would be a good idea next time we’re in the village. We begin looking at the food menu on the wall behind the counter, and a lady approaches. She says to us “We don’t like people bringing in outside food, because we’re an ice cream place.” We told her we were unaware of this, but if this is in fact a rule of their establishment we were just looking for some food and perhaps we can get a burger to go. She looks at us and mutters under her breath passive aggressively as if to say “Yeah, I’ll do that favor for you even though you decided to bring in two small cups of ice cream from our competitor.” My wife and I suddenly developed a palpable, sour taste in our mouths and felt totally unwelcome at that point. We looked at each other in disappointment, and knew that we needed to walk out.

I hope this business continues to prosper, as it seems like it’s been there a long time and is probably one of the few of its kind left in this overly corporate world. However, I just wanted to make this review as a reminder to business owners, you can have your policies. But there are ways to communicate to your customers without making them feel uninvited. We’ll continue to try ice cream and food at other local places.
