bathrooms are dirty, spider webs with live spiders in ladies and mens..stake tips were inedible ..the only thing that was good was the French onion soup..they even found a way to screw up the chocolate mousse by putting a bitter cherry sauce in the bottom....and the bill was $60.00 without the tip...go elsewhere. ..you will leave there starving and very disapointed.in the other hand the waitress was awesome...she needs to go to a better restaurant to work..

This place is a shell of what it once was. The name is the same, but that's it. Food is overpriced and doesn't meet the quality. Everything is way over salted and kills the meal. Dine elsewhere.

The 1844 House is a charming restaurant that offers an exceptional dining experience. The cozy decor and the historic setting create a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a gem in the area. The menu features a variety of delectable dishes, including the highly recommended risotto and the decadent flourless chocolate cake. Diners can also enjoy a sorbet palette cleanser and chocolates as a nice touch. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating, ensuring that diners with dietary restrictions are well-catered for. The specials are always unique, and the food is cooked and seasoned to perfection. The presentation and taste of the dishes are outstanding, with the pork shank being a standout meal. Guests can savor the excellent French fries and perfectly cooked salmon. Though the space feels a bit dated and the carpeted dining area might be uncomfortable for those with allergies or asthma, the service remains excellent, and the food quality is consistently good. The filet is cooked to temperature and tender, while buffalo shrimp offers just the right amount of heat without being overpowering. Prices are on par with the quality, making the experience well worth it. The 1844 House is a must-visit for those seeking a memorable dining experience in the north country.
