“This is the best Jamaican food spot in Poughkeepsie ! It’s not your typical Golden Krust ! The food , service , and atmosphere has never disappointed me ! It doesn’t matter what I order I’m always satisfied! Feels as if this Jamaican family really cooks their food with love. I always feel welcomed and it’s beautiful when you walk in a restaurant and is greeted with a warm , friendly smile , bc honestly you don’t get that everywhere . I come here and the breakfast, lunch, and dinner is always on point ! May God continue to bless the family and business !!“

“The owners are very kind and patient . My fiancé loves the Jamaican food ! Me and my son love all the different flavors of ice cream you can get! The place is always clean ! I love going here !
Parking: There’s limited space but luckily there always seems to be a spot there !
Kid-friendliness: My kid loves coming here ! They even do samples which is great when you have a picky kid !
Wheelchair accessibility: They don’t have stairs so it’s pretty wheelchair accessible“

“I enjoyed the very hearty flavor of the dry rub of this jerk chicken. A splash of lightly sweet jerk sauce might've been nice, but I'd forgotten to ask. It was a little too hearty to pair w/ mac & cheese, but I regret nothing. Fifteen bucks for two (or more) meals!“

“I enjoyed this small order of jerk chicken & ginger lemonade. My only gripe is that it was overly sauced w/ sweet commercially available jerk sauce. The meat was a bit tough as well; perhaps slightly undercooked? I'm still glad I stopped by here after years of walking, driving, & taking the bus past this bright blue building.“

“I love Jamaican good. There are a few spots here in Poughkeepsie NY. Sylvia's is one of the best Jamaican restaurants in NY. I ordered oxtails, rice and peas, cabbage today with a beef patty nd cheese on cocoa bread. There cocoa bread and patties are so fresh they never disappoint. There oxtails... fall off the bone literally, always fresh and delicious. There customer service and atmosphere always welcoming, great place to visit if you are in the area.“

“The atmosphere was cozy, clean and hospitable. The owner was preparing for an event, but still accommodated us. We wanted to have a quiet, deliciously cooked Caribbean meal to celebrate our wedding Anniversary. The food was good, place clean, owner was funny and very hospitable. Hospitality is lacking today so much, so when it is given, I am sold! I would return one day, we enjoyed our quiet, and the owner was lovely.“
