Haneul Babsang 하늘 밥상 is a hole in the wall, popular with local locals. It is a mom pop and son outfit, a husband/wife team. The small store has only 7 small tables. The atmosphere is a bit fuzzy, reminiscent of a long-established Korean restaurant. They only sell what’s fresh, so sometimes items are not available. Good value good food, don’t expect a fancy dining experience or white tablecloth service. The owners are very proud of their food, and it shows in the flavor profile. The taste of mother’s cooking, jipbap (home cooked meals), is felt in every menu and little banchans. Stick with the soups. The loach soup, loach kalguksu, and spicy and hot chueotang are warming and delicious. The dakgaejang (spicy chicken soup) has a very flavorful broth with a lot of spice. The sundae soup is probably the best in flushing. The spicy pork bulgogi aka jaeyuk bokkeum is unique and so good. The duck BBQ is also loved. Food that tastes like a traditional Korean restaurant and is not spicy has a healthy taste.
