Based on customer reviews, Strathmore Bagels on Lakeland Ave has very good bagels, including the Italian Stallion and the best Bailey's in Suffolk County. The food is made with love, and the bagels are the best tasting around. The restaurant is family owned and operated. However, the customer service is inconsistent. While some staff are incredibly welcoming, respectful, and can handle large last-minute orders like 9 dozen bagels for a team breakfast, one specific woman who takes phone orders on the weekend is described as disgustingly rude. She has snapped at customers, argued about order mistakes like giving turkey bacon instead of bacon, and been generally unpleasant. The restaurant also opens at 7am, which some customers find too late for a breakfast place, with one person noting it was closed at 6:45am. Despite the service issues, the bagels are so good that some customers will go out of their way for them and the restaurant decorates for every holiday with exquisite taste.
