“Heated walkways are non existent now. Only 1 outdoor ( adult only ) hot tub working and wasn’t filled with enough water so jets were annoying when on, spewing water in faces. The pool was absolutely NOT warm enough to swim in and nobody was in it, not even kids so you know it was cold. If you can’t keep the amenities up stop promoting them and charging for them. The area underneath to walk through from pool to movie theater the carpeting was soaking wet and sloshy, no signs up just you step in it and gross. Staff is nice.“
“My family has been spending summers on Upper Saranac Lake for more than sixty years. During these times, four generations have enjoyed dining at 'The Lodge', encountering generational members of the Hohmeyer family along the way. There are too many stories to describe in this review, however I had the pleasure of reminiscing with the host (Ernest Hohmeyer) my remembrance of his father (as a boy I called him Mr. Hohmeyer) and the Cornucopia dessert he brought to the table at the end of the meal. (Ernest mentioned how challenging it became to find the proper equipment to make the Cornucopia, but he did and the pastry with the ice cream was delicious.) There were many more memories over the decades, but I always find myself back as a child every time we go-- Mr. Hohmeyer's polished manner and German accent, Mrs. Hohmeyer's Weiner Schnitzel 'mit the holstein' (a sunny-side egg on top of the veal), and the sauerbraten with the red cabbage on the side. Those old memories will never fade, but in the wake of them are the new ones being made-- we celebrated one of my daughter's engagement with a pre-dinner surprise at the lakeside, took our middle daughter with her husband for dinner last week, and my wife and I are now babysitting our grandson while our oldest daughter and her fiance enjoy a dinner for themselves this very evening. It won't be long before the fifth generation become 'members' of this special place and I can't wait for them to experience the uniqueness of the ambiance, food, and hospitality. Thank you, Ernest and Cathy, for maintaining the spirit of 'The Lodge' and adding your personal touches to it. Fondly, the Samuels Family (Louis, Fania, Rosa and Mick (and Davey with another on the way), Sara and Keven (with a little one on the way), and Marissa and Mike (with our newest addition, Emelia).“
“This really was a beautiful dinner. I couldn't have asked for better service. I believe my waitress' name was Brittany, and she was really so kind and lovely. While my food was delicious.... I'm taking off one star for price. I got one appetizer, one drink, one salad, and one dessert. And my bill was 140 dollars before tip. When I was told the appetizer special was a pasta, I'm looking at all of the other appetizers and I'm seeing prices of around 20 to 30 bucks. So I'm thinking okay this thing is probably going to be 20 to 30 dollars. I knew I wanted to try dessert and salad so I thought I'd spend less by getting an app. Sometimes you just want a cool experience without breaking the bank. Not to mention I try to stay within my 100. 00 budget I get for traveling for work. Needless to say I was sticker -shocked when I saw the pasta was 60 dollars. The portion was EXTREMELY small, there was no meat. Just noodles and sauce. So it definitely hurt to pay that bill and I wouldn't come here again. However I'm glad I got the experience since they do make you feel very catered to. The amouse bouche selection was a pork consomme that was absolutely heavenly. Highly recommend if money is no object. Highly recommend staying away if it is ?“

“Cute small town vibes. Our waitress was very nice. Our food was fantastic. I got the hash and eggs. I was expecting your typical corned beef hash and was pleasantly surprised when I received real pieces of corned beef in hash browns. I am a condiment queen and this tasted so good I don’t even touch the ketchup. We will be back in January for sure.“
