“This is a great spot to get some delicious wings and cold beers! Watch sports, talk to new people, catch a live band! Make sure you go on Saturday night to see James behind the bar! He's not just great for beers and conversation, He can make any cocktail you want! (Low key date night with ALL the sports??) James (Jimmy) will soon become a familiar friend. “The Snug and City Island Diner are true local treasures. They’re owned by the same wonderful people and share a kitchen, but each has its own vibe and hours — and together they’re unbeatable.
The fully loaded chili here is hands-down the best I’ve ever had. It’s rich, hearty, perfectly seasoned, and also shows up in their nachos, which makes them next-level comfort food.
One of my favorite things? They have a secret menu (no longer advertised) with specialty grilled cheese sandwiches and specialty hot dogs — and we absolutely love it. The Tuscan Melt (no onion) is perfection, and the Reuben Dog is unforgettable. With the hot dogs you get two, and you can mix and match styles, which is such a fun and generous touch.
At The Snug, my go-to drink is a black & tan, which pairs perfectly with the cozy, neighborhood pub feel. Over at the diner, my favorite dish is the Corned Beef Hash breakfast — classic, satisfying, and done exactly right.
Beyond the food, what really sets these places apart is the people. Every server is genuinely kind, welcoming, and deeply plugged into the City Island community. You feel like a regular even on your first visit.

What a hidden gem!
The food was incredible — fresh, flavorful, and definitely not frozen. The ambience and vibe were on point, with great energy and a live DJ setting the perfect mood. Honestly, anyone saying otherwise must be used to eating caviar or something exotic, because this place is the real deal.
It’s rare to find a spot that nails the food, music, and atmosphere and keeps prices so reasonable. Plus, it’s located right inside a golf course — how this place isn’t packed every night, I have no idea. Highly recommend checking it out before everyone else discovers it!“

“This place is straight out of Norman Rockwell with the old-fashioned ceilings the naughty wood pine, outstanding food down home people and just a great place for a Friday night drink and a nice comfort food although the food is underrated it's really good. I highly recommend this place. check it out if you like the local pub type spot.“
