Overwhelming menu at first but if you focus on the Ruebens you can't go wrong! A little bit of everything if you're looking for sweet or savory snacks. Really patient staff. Sat outside on the one bench. Just wish there were a couple more options.

I have to give a shout out to Pumpernickels Deli in East Setauket.You've passed this deli doing 50mph headed into Port Jefferson. There's a well known deli very close to my home, guess what? I like Pumpernickels deli better. Why?It's a few things, most importantly getting greeted when I walk in. Inside is nothing fancy, to the left is the counter and to the right is the coffee station. And they make an INCREDIBLE B.E.C. With SPK!The eggs are always cooked perfectly, nice bacon ratio and I like the coffee! That's a 5 star spot in my book.I just wanted to write a review and tell everyone about this nice neighborhood deli that's very close to Nichols rd. Nice peeps making a good breakfast.

I love Pumpernickels’! The food is always fresh, creative sandwiches on a variety of homemade bread. The staff is very polite and friendly, as if they really want to earn your business. They work hard to make their store warm and welcoming. I pass by two other deli’s’ that are closer to my house, to get to Pumpernickel’s. Excellent tuna salad on rye! Ron

Great staff! Owners Ken & Tina are so friendly and that reflects through the rest of their staff as well. They are very sweet and engaging with our children. Delicious heroes, sandwiches and salads. Their breakfast specials are killer as well.

Lady at the register was high strung and distracted. It’s understandable to be having a bad day, but she tried to overcharge me twice, once by adding on a 7.99 charge for a sandwich I clearly did not order, and another time by trying to up charge me for a bag of chips that clearly read 99c on the label to a $3 “custom item”. I was able to see all of this on the tap to pay terminal. I had to correct her twice, despite the fact that she had just called out my exact order and called me to the register just seconds prior. I’d like to give her the benefit of the doubt as it truly may have been an honest mistake, but it’s absolutely unacceptable to disrespect your customers when you’re having a bad day.
