We've been coming to Vine Street for years. This last dinner was on my 50th birthday. I ordered a dirty martini that was so filthy, it was not drinkable. The duck that I always get had gone up in price and the amount of chutney that came with it was so little it was hardly noticeable in the dish, so different from when I've previously had it. The calamari salad that has been our favorite for years was not the same, it seems like they've switched to frozen calamari tubes and it lacked the dressing that made it so good. Once the meal came out, we waited and waited for my husband's steak knife. The food server was very over friendly and came by way too often to check on us. I appreciate her attentiveness however, when you're paying these type of prices, the service should be so good, you don't even know it's happening. After dinner, we asked for an Amaro that was on the fruitier side, hoping the bartender could recommend one but the server brought us a lemoncello. A fruity amaro is not a lemoncello. Needless to say, we won't be coming back to Vine Street any time soon.

My husband and I are from Southold and Vine Street has always been one of our favorite places for a maximum dining experience. So when our oldest friends flew in from Florida we couldn't think of a better place to celebrate our nearly 40-year friendship. Suffice it to say, it was everything we've come to expect, from the luxurious food to bottles of sparkling water that we never had to ask for. But the one thing that was best above the fray was our server; Christine's beautiful smile was contagious, whether she was chatting with us or even just walking through the dining room. She was the very thing that tied a ribbon around the whole package. So praise her! Give her a raise! And may Vine Street continue to bring out the best in a special night. Thanks so much, Natalie & Andrew Fraser

I ordered my old favorites, calamari salad and sticky toffee pudding and everything was perfect.

What's wonderful about Vine Street Cafe is its consistency. The staff is really well trained and the food quality has always been excellent.

Probably the best restaurant in shelter island, and 100% in the top 5 in the north fork and south fork area. Every part of the meal and the ingredients in the dish were on point, the deserts were outstanding and the service was wonderful. Would totally come again and again and again

Vine Street Cafe is a calm and quiet restaurant with delicious food and polite, friendly staff — truly worthy of appreciation.
Prices could be a bit more reasonable, but it’s definitely worth trying.

My girlfriend and I love Vine Street. Overall favorite restaurant on Shelter. Love the decor, ambience, laid back "chill vibe" music. Food is great and service is too. Love Marco the bartender. But our one new complaint is the expense. The prices have gotten fairly obscene. $72 for a steak? Come on. That's ridiculous and hard to justify, notwithstanding the good quality food. And many more items that are just not reasonably priced. One never wants to feel like one's being fleeced. At Vine Street, it's starting to feel like that and that is definitely not a good "vibe." p.s. They recently changed the "by the glass" wine list and swapped out previously good California and French wines for "NoFo" (North Fork) wines, which, let's be honest, are not in the same universe let alone league of the west coast and Europe. Please bring back predominantly CA and French wines.

Excellent and always reliable food and Service. A real authentic Island vibe. We've been regulars for more than 20 years and we keep coming back. Kudos to VSC for your consistent excellence!

Their covered outdoors space is a must. Relaxed, weather protected and quiet enough to hear your dinner partners conversation.

We had such a romantic evening at Vine Street. Our waitress was very friendly and the ambience was quaint and cozy.

The restaurant was freezing cold. The food was only fair to good and took over an hour to arrive. The service was good and they gave us one free dessert. Disappointing. I probably won't go back
