Their covered outdoors space is a must. Relaxed, weather protected and quiet enough to hear your dinner partners conversation.
We had such a romantic evening at Vine Street. Our waitress was very friendly and the ambience was quaint and cozy.
The restaurant was freezing cold. The food was only fair to good and took over an hour to arrive. The service was good and they gave us one free dessert. Disappointing. I probably won't go back
Vine Street never disappoints. It has kept its amazing food standards since opening. Not only is the food outstanding, but so is the service. It is the jewel restaurant of Shelter Island.
We had dinner at Vine St Cafe last night, and at first worried about outdoor seating, but decided to go anyway, and it was the best decision. We sat under a tent, with plenty of space between tables, it had that feel of being inside.. Several attentive servers were on rotation at our table making sure we were taken care of. from the minute we sat down.. The food was absolutely delicious, top notch & farm fresh, from the oysters to main course +..We live a ferry ride away and look forward to returning soon...
As always another amazing meal at Vine Street. Very accommodating to dietary preferences, excellent service and food quality . Nice selection of mocktails .
The duck entree was absolutely stunning. The restaurant was very busy/loud due to a rainy night. Not ample space for the crowd, but the food was excellent.
Dined here in the past and enjoyed my experience. This evening I was not left with the same impression. Our server was very good and pleasant. My martini was also made very well. My entree is where we took a turn. I ordered the fried chicken breast. The spinach and grits which accompanied the dish were quite good, however the chicken was either pounded very flat or sliced thin. It lacked flavor and could have been more moist. There was more crispy coating than anything else. While I understand high prices, I still expect chicken in my fried chicken entree, and to taste good. It may have been an off night however it made for a lacklusture experience.
We were seated outside - despite it being 64 degrees, there were only 2 gas heaters in the garden, both far away from our table. When asked if there were more heaters, we were told that unfortunately not (even though on the other side of the outdoor space we spotted 3 of them standing unused when we were exiting). Ordered moules which came in an odd tasting broth.
What an absolutely lovely dining experience we enjoyed at Vine Street Cafe. The staff was amazing, so professional and attentive, looking after our every need. Our dinners were amazing!

The beet salad did not have enough beets in it. The beets were supposed to be smoked but didn't taste like it. Desserts were excellent. Great variety and delicious.
This was our first experience at Vine Street. Several Shelter Island locals recommended the restaurant. The ambience is good, just what you would expect from an island location. The outdoor area is well positioned. Our server, Emma, was fantastic. She is from Shelter Island and gave us wonderful information on growing up there. She also knew the menu very well and gave us recommendations on what to order. She said the duck was highly rated and she was right. We loved it, maybe the best duck we have ever ordered. The mussels and scallops were tasty as well. We highly recommend Vine Street and Emma!
Drinks and food were very good. We had the Rigatoni, Salmon, Mahi Mahi and Mussels and aioli fries. We sat outside under the covered patio. It's a lively place and a little noisy. Also, because of the crowds it took a long time to get our food
They were very specific about their 5pm opening time. We needed to wait outside until the girl came out the with open shingle. We knew why when we left as the place was packed! They needed to be on their game and they were. Drinks were Meh and red wine selection was disappointing and pricy. Grilled veal chop was a little chewy but not at all worth complaining about. All in all the food was very tasty. I'm definitely going back.
This is a wonderful place, great food, excellent service, lovely ambiance. But boy has it gotten expensive. Prices seemed at least a third higher than they were two years ago, and it was very expensive then. We likely won't return, which is sad for us because dining at the Vine has always been a high point on our visits to Shelter Island.
