I don't know if the waiter made an honest mistake or was trying to rip me off. I had a meal voucher from the airline for $12. I ordered a steak dinner for $39 and a Coke. When he handed me the check, it was almost $56. When I looked at it, included was an $8 gratuity. Ok whatever, it's New York. So with my voucher subtracted, I owed $44. I handed him $60 cash. We did not plan on staying here-we were guests of Delta due to a missed connection. At first I was heartened to hear we weren’t going to be put up in the Hotel 8 but those rosy projections were soon dampened. The hotel room was a dark hole from which emanated the stench of old smoke and dirty feet. There were 2 lamps in the room which did nothing to dispel the gloom. I stayed the night before a flight with park and stay. Arriving to the hotel was very confusing. The parking sign was blocked by another vehicle. After this check-in was very smooth and simple from the valet to the front desk. Check out is automatic. Upon return from my vacation the shuttle was waiting at Federal Circle and by the time I arrived at the hotel my car was there waiting for me.
