some food was very good. steak au poivre was excellent. the salad nicoise was canned tuna with some veggies so overpriced. service depended on who was waiting on you. very skimpy bloody mary..had to ask for lemon and to fill up the glass.
Great French Cuisine on Main Street in Southampton Village
Ordered mussels and fries. I was told I can’t take home my leftover mussels. Host was rude, told me “ too bad” and offered me chocolate mousse after I said I was full which was why I wanted to take home my leftovers. Then he was annoyed that I was full. He was also annoyed when I asked why no one mentioned that this was their policy, and why it’s not printed on the menu. Please stay away. There are many good restaurants in Southampton with far superior service.

Le Charlot offers delicious food in a nice setting with sidewalk tables. The service is usually friendly and energetic, although it can sometimes be overwhelmed on busy nights, leading to minor mistakes with orders. The restaurant provides good value with its off-season prix-fix menu and reasonably priced wine. The regular menu may be pricey, but the portions are adequate and the food is tasty. Guests often enjoy the well-prepared, mostly delicious dishes, though service can sometimes be slow or inconsistent, and issues like incorrect drinks or plates not being removed promptly have been noted. The voice preparation and overall flavors are appreciated, but the coffee has occasionally been disappointing. The lunch selection remains popular, but dinner menus can be limited, offering mainly salmon steak and chicken, which may disappoint some diners. Despite some flaws, Le Charlot remains a pleasant dining experience worth revisiting.
